What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

We had courgetti carbonara for our evening meal it was delicious, very indulgent with cream and cheese but very low carb because of the lack of pasta. I think it may become a regular in our house.

    Type 2 here, and hello

Have you considered asking your GP for a home visit or for a nurse to visit at least to look at your legs and take some bloods so you can have an idea of what you are working with? I assume your GP is familiar with your anxieties etc and may be willing to make a home visit in order to support...

    Type 2 here, and hello

I am also relatively new to the forum. I was also diagnosed about a year ago and got off to quite a good start then lots and lots of very stressful situations all one after the other derailed me and my last HB1ac was up to 56 so I have started back with low carb eating and as of yesterday on...

I shall do this ASAP, the surgery are really quite good at being forthcoming with information when asked.

So hopefully having already started with LCHF it may well minimise any discomfort.

Off to see the GP this morning, I suspect he will prescribe Metformin

So as expected I have bee prescribed 1 x 500mg of metformin. The GP was really good took time to go through my options and understood that the massive life stresses in the last 6 months have meant that I have lost the focus I previously had, the HB1ac figures backed this up clearly. He felt that...

Off to see the GP this morning, I suspect he will prescribe Metformin

Thanks @WeeFergus I have also read about the slow release version being more tolerable for those who have issues. I fully intend to at least ask if this is a possibility but I also am aware of prescribing guidelines and budgets and know the first port of call is likely to be the cheapest version.

Off to see the GP this morning, I suspect he will prescribe Metformin

I have been called to see the GP following my last HB1ac result, I don't know what it is I shall ask today they just told me that it was up. I currently do not take any medication but have had a terribly stressful 6 months and my diabetes management took a back seat for a while. I am back on...

Living with type 2 the good the bad and the ugly

This is my first time posting my readings. Todays fasting reading was 8.2 (I am type 2) which isn't great but is down from 10.3 three days ago so heading in the right direction after just two full days of LCHF eating.

Low carb, the total carb or net carb?

Thank you all, so the total number it is. It seems like our labelling means that they have already done the calculation for us. This is good because it will make it much easier for me to know where I stand. Thanks again. I am expecting a shopping delivery this eve which means I am all set to...

Low carb, the total carb or net carb?

I am new to all of this and have just been reading about the benefits of LCHF diet for managing type 2. The guidance on the sticky suggests low carb is up to 50g daily. I have also read about net carbs, where the fibre total is subtracted from the total carb to give the net carb. So my question...
