What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Yeah I was told for years, you're type 2 you don't need to check. Recently I have been given a much better nurse who thinks it's really important to monitor, however, her hands are tied. If you're willing (and can afford) to put the money into testing your self, I don't see why anybody would...

    Just diagnosed!

I've felt like this before. Just remember, you can most probably correct this. For most people low Carb seem to work best. Just because you can't excercise(which is good for you but won't cure your t2) doesn't mean you're a lost cause. You can do this! I hope you feel better

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks! I think I'll start going 1 hour then. I'd do both 1 and 2, but like I've said before, strips ain't free for most t2s lol

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Yeah I ended up buying the sd codefree as a backup as their strips are about £7 for 50 as apposed to the gluco RX which are around £17. Still money out of my own pocket but I've come to realise you shouldn't put a price on your health. I know some people don't like the SD codefree but I've...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Yeah i get that I'm just still sorting diet out so checking after seems to make sense. Obviously I want to get into a position where I check as little as possible, as it costs a fortune. I do get strips on prescription but only 50 every few months.

Can i also just ask a quick Q? Post eating should you do your sugars 2 hours after? The only reason I ask is I came across somebody yesterday who said it should be one hour. I've been checking 2 hours after my meals

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.9 this morning. Finally below 7. Started a few weeks ago with the occasional reading over 10 but most in the 9s. Low Carb diet is definitely working for me as I still get to eat yummy food! I never knew these forums existed when I was first diagnosed, glad I do now, been really helpful

Help! How to handle Mum with T2 but being irresponsible (not managing their diabetes) ?

I didn't take my type 2 diabetes seriously for the last 3 years since being diagnosed. It took a serious health scare to make me book my ideas up. I find most of the doctors and nurses don't emphasise how serious type 2 is, they really don't drum into you, that if ignored, it's a life...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

    7. 1 this morning but was 5.4 before bed. Is this normal? I've only just started monitoring and it's definitely working for me! Started with 9s in the morning so happy with the 7.1 for now =)

7.1 this morning after it being 5.4 before bed. Is this normal? Definitely an improvement from the 9+ I was getting when I started monitoring though =)
