How much carbs daily? Type 2

Bear in mind that the same amount of carbs may affect you differently according to the time of day. I can eat a lot of carbs with my dinner in the evening but almost none at breakfast. Testing is definitely the way to go.

    Spirit Healthcare

I am going to go back to my TEE2+ when I sort out the VAT issue. I have been using a Navii but the latest batch of strips gives alarmingly high readings. I don't use many strips now so I haven't got a stock of different batch empty tubs to compare. However the current tub of Navii strips is...

I thought you were a convert to the Gluco Navii?

    Spirit Healthcare

Thanks for your reply, I will give them a call and try to fix it. It's very confusing that the diabetic box remains ticked when it is not still active.

    Spirit Healthcare

Has anyone else had problems with the Spirit Healthcare website? I have ordered before without difficulty but this time the website navigation doesn't seem to work properly and although I have the box ticked as diabetic, it is still trying to charge me VAT. When I emailed them they said it all...

    Low carb tolerance

Hovis medium sliced white bread is 17.9g of carbs per full sized slice, so half a slice would be almost exactly 9g.

Surely that can't have been right, my blood pressure could be ok up to 174?

    Prostate

You are lucky to be in the 10% . I am not so fortunate, I have followed a low carb diet for over 6 years but I doubt it is anything to do with diet anyway.

    Prostate

I think the main cause is aging, we are living longer than some organs can cope with. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia affects about 50 percent of men between the ages of 51 and 60 and up to 90 percent of men older than 80.

Are you saying your BG is affected by using the toilet?

First Blood Glucose test of the day before foot on the floor?

Or you could sleep in the bath. I found from a Libre trial that my morning level started to rise slowly from before I was wide awake. Just being consistent to show a trend is probably more important than the exact time.

Can't decide between Tee2+ or Gluco Navii Meters

I have had both. Not much to choose between them, both use small amounts of blood and the strips are relatively cheap. I have never used any software, just entered readings along with the vital meal information on a simple spreadsheet. As they both cost about £12 or so, just buy one, if you...

Type 2 Does preparing food affect BG?

As I said earlier, triggering insulin in a type 2 should make bg go lower. Maybe there is response from the liver to compensate which overshoots? I think it is more likely with finger prick testing to be contamination of the skin. My fingers still taste of garlic or chilli, even after washing.

Type 2 Does preparing food affect BG?

If insulin was triggered by the smell and anticipation of food then wouldn't BG go down rather than up?

    Tuna in Brine Vs Oil

You are overthinking it. If you used to eat lots of carbs then eating less will be a benefit. Don't let perfection be the enemy of good. The reason you need to increase fat and protein if you cut down on carbs is simply because otherwise you would be hungry. I often have tins of tuna and I...

    Silly Me

There is a simple way to find out the truth. Metformin has a very limited effect by all accounts, it will be your diet and weight loss that has made the difference.

    Father Christmas brought me..(diabetes related)

I am surprised to see that an adult, even a good one, only lasts you for a matter of months. I have had my wife for nearly 40 years and she is still not completely worn out.

    Hb1Ac please explain NICE guidelines

HbA1c is the fraction of haemoglobin molecules that have glucose attached. As it is a fraction, the size of the person doesn't matter. As regards medication, doses are approximate anyway and are rounded to pill sizes, only children and babies normally get reduced doses.
