    Low carb failure

Thank you for your reply- I have been following LCHF on this forum, you guys were all very helpful at the start. My diet is very much meat, over ground veg, cheese, eggs, nuts. I do have a meter, my levels haven't gone below 7.5 this year. Last night I had salmon with hollandaise sauce...

    Low carb failure

I am type 2 diet "controlled" and have been low carbing since February - I have lost 12lb but my bs levels have barely changed. My HbA1c was 9.2% and is now 9%. About 3 months ago I began experiencing extremely bad anxiety and panic attacks. I have an ectopic heartbeat which has been behaving...

Am I doing the LCHF diet wrong?

I have also just ordered a box of Ketostix to ensure my body is burning fats as energy!

Am I doing the LCHF diet wrong?

@ Catlady I have made an appointment with the doc for next week just to be on the safe side. An example of my daily diet (b) eggs (poached or scrambled) with ham or bacon, or sausages or mackerel / occasionally Greek yoghurt with blueberries and flaxseeds (l) ham or chicken or prawn or feta...

Am I doing the LCHF diet wrong?

I have been doing this diet for 6 weeks now, my bs has improved slightly, I've only lost 5lbs (need to lose about a stone and a half), not experiencing symptoms of high blood sugar, not really craving 'bad' carbs so all good there. But I am constantly experiencing muscle pain. I can't be certain...

    Is my meter rubbish?

I just tested and got a reading of 15.8 on one hand and 12.1 on the other hand?! I noticed at the hospital the other day that my meter gave a reading 2.5 higher than the nurses machine also?! I have the Braun Omnitest 3. I've just spent £60 on strips (surgery is very stingey with prescriptions)...

Cheese and apple - good or bad snack?

Thanks Robbity, cheese and apple after my meal sounds like a plan, but I will definitely check levels at intervals too. It's weird I'm not craving bread, pasta, biscuits but an apple?! Re checking levels I am experiencing a bit of a problem as I discovered my meter is giving higher readings...

Cheese and apple - good or bad snack?

I have never craved an apple so much! Would this snack be ok in an evening?

Very unpleasant experience, can anyone help figure out what happened?

Brunneria, thank you for your advice x

Very unpleasant experience, can anyone help figure out what happened?

Yes, I have been eating more fat (mmmm) and yesterday looking back I didn't- hollow is an excellent way of describing it. There was neither volume nor satiety in yesterday's food I think. May I ask how you increase the fat content of your diet - other than cheese and adding cream I'm finding it...

Very unpleasant experience, can anyone help figure out what happened?

Mrspuddleduck, thank you for replying. I've been reducing over the last couple of weeks 1 day 20, 1 day 15, 1 day 20, 2 days 15 and this is much less drastic than the 50% reduction the doctor told me to do. If there were side effects from that I had thought they would have been sooner. However...

Very unpleasant experience, can anyone help figure out what happened?

For the last 2 weeks I have been meal planning very well, plenty of salad, lots of green veg etc, and not having toast also. Yesterday suddenly became a different day due to a number of reasons and I had lunch out (the pea and ham soup was the best choice on the menu) and I didn't have time to...

Very unpleasant experience, can anyone help figure out what happened?

Yesterday I had a really awful day which ended up with me popping to a and e. I'm hoping someone can help me identify what I did wrong! I have been following LCHF for nearly 2 weeks and it has been going ok. (I'm type 2 diet controlled, although my diet has been bad for a good while and my...

Hi Kristen251, yes I am eating a bit more protein than normal - is this not good?

I wasn't aware of the "liver dump" thanks for that - learning something new here every day x

High readings on low carb - starting to get stressed.

I have only been LCHF for a few days so I appreciate my body is adapting. For the first few days my bs readings were improving. Over the last couple of days I've tried to lower carbs more (at first I would have a slice of toast with eggs but now I'm just having eggs and ham etc). Yesterday I ate...

My low carb/IF Diet - BG and progress

Hi there, after posting on here a couple of days ago (being new to LCHF), I have spent my time doing lots of research, reading lots of posts etc and am starting to get my head around this new way of eating. The problem is I keep getting really hungry and snacking (low carb of course). Today is...
