    Please help me understand

If the medication is not keeping her sugars artificially low then how come her sugars are okay, she said the db nurse said they are fine but with the carbs she is eating her sugars should be higher.

    HbA1c results are in

I know, I wasn't sure myself but my sugars were 6.6 @ 12:44pm and two hours later after a 45 minute walk they were 6.1 @ 14:43, so am guessing the beans were okay for me. Although probably keep them to a minimum as they were 11g of carbs for my 100g portion.

    Please help me understand

She is going for her 6 monthly review tomorrow, not sure if they will take her bloods, will try and find out what they are. Mind you she might not be willing to share, today we were talking about food and she kept saying what are the sugars and I said that she needs to look at the whole amount...

    Please help me understand

Girl at work is diabetic, diagnosed a year or so ago, she still eats loads of carbs and hasn't lost any weight (despite watching her sugars, just her sugars!) has increased walking and swims once a week. She is on Metformin and some other medication and her three/six monthly blood test comes...

    Already not going well

Oh she did mention carbs, I need them and apparently I should be eating jacket potatoes, potato wedges with skin on, rice (albeit she did say brown), wholemeal bread and pasta. What spiked my sugars was apparently the fat in creamed spinach, not the flour that I used to make the sauce. I would...

    Already not going well

Just had first conversation with diabetic nurse. She told me creamed spinach would spike me because fat turns to sugar in the body. Not apparently the carbs in the flour. However the peppers and onions were fine fried in oil .

    HbA1c results are in

Creamed spinach was homemade, does contain flour probably about 4 tbsp for the whole recipe which was divided into about 6 portions, 900g bag of spinach. I am testing 2 hours from when I first eat, not from when finished. I have been testing a couple of weeks now. Off for a walk now, just had...

    HbA1c results are in

Well the weight is coming off, 6lb so far but sugars are up and down, this morning I was 9.2 after sleep, although I did not test myself until a couple of hours after I woke up. Then tested myself a couple of hours later before breakfast after getting up and moving around and it was 8.3. Only...

    HbA1c results are in

Rang the doctors today and the result is 54 mmol, so I guess that's it, I am officially diabetic. Could the results be that way because I have gorged over the last few months on the bad stuff. I only ask because it does say that if I am symptom free that they should consider a glucose test in a...

HbA1c is the result always diabetic

Sorry should have said, I am off tomorrow for the HbA1c test. I haven't been testing at random times, they have been after sleep, before breakfast, before dinner, 2 hours after dinner and before sleep. I have added notes e.g., walk straight after dinner etc. Also did an experiment last night and...

HbA1c is the result always diabetic

I haven't actually been diagnosed yet, bought my own meter and have been testing for the last week, majority of the numbers are all in the red but have upped water, changed my diet (Still about 100 -120g Carbs) and trying for a minimum of 10k steps, managed 12.5k a few times. Just wondered if...

HbA1c is the result always diabetic

Just wondering if anyone has ever monitored their bloods found the to be high 8-11 at various testing times only to find that the HbA1c result is that they are not diabetic. Clutching at straws here!

So went to the Doctors this morning and I am off tomorrow to the hospital for the A1C test. Fasting, I think she said 12 hours but assume I can sip water in the morning.

I was tested at the doctors a couple of years ago and I did not take anything in, the nurse said that people normally took Lucosade in for testing but nobody had told me to do that. She took my fasting blood then gave me some disgusting concoction to drink and then I had to sit in the waiting...

It's bit addictive constantly testing my blood. Have just tested again after getting up and showering etc. I stayed in bed relaxing whilst I was testing after the lucosade test, my test after 2 hours had only dropped to 13.9 but then as I say I got up showered etc and tested again 1.5 hours...

The thing bothering me is that I am a Northern lass who grew up on comfort food, meat and three veg, two types of potato with Sunday dinner. It is my favourite vegetable, I have made celeriac chips and sweet potato fries. I only really tolerate veg when I am eating it combined with some potato...

I believe she has a blood test quarterly, she also has tests for eyes, tests for her feet. I know she also sees a diabetic nurse, so maybe she is on some other medication that brings her sugars down because she hasn't ever come in and said that the nurse has told her results were high.

Trust me this is not a woman who would keep out of my business. However, I only made the comment when we had both bought the blood sugar diet book, I haven't ever commented since. Nor have I commented on the food she eats just observed it which is why I questioned does the metformin allow you to...

Thank you for your replies, will aim to visit Dr this week. I have a question re metformin, a lady was diagnosed a year or so ago in fact two were, one particular lady wears diabetes like a badge of honour, god forbid you have a birthday and bring in cake without considering her diabetes. She...

So I haven't actually been to the doctors yet. I got tested a couple of years ago, my blood sugar levels were after fasting 6.8, they tested again the next day and the test was the same so they referred me for a glucose tolerance test. The wait for the test was 3 weeks so in that time I went as...
