    hba1c correlation with RBC lifespan

Interesting find, @finsit. So, even if we can't get a reticulocyte count (and I would guess this includes most of us), the relationship generally seems to be be, the higher your hematocrit value (holding reticulocyte count constant -- as we most likely have no value to plug into the equation)...

    I don’t understand

Hi @Rachelpoppet, I agree with all the comments above. It's really difficult to tell what is happening without more data to go on. It might be informative to test every half hour for three or four hours in total after a high-carb meal. Alternatively, you could trial a Freestyle Libre for a...

    Recommendations - R-ALA

Hi @Goonergal, At the beginning of my diabetic journey, I once ordered R-ALA. The brand was Doctor's Best, the brand seems pretty reputable, and I was also happy with my order. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to order it again. It might be a little bit pricier, but I have also personally tended...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hello all, 5.7 yesterday and 5.0 today. Will be taking a bit of a break from my meter (maybe for a week). @nutribolt -- Welcome back. It's good to see you posting again.

Is there a forum like this in Germany or Switzerland?

Thanks for tagging me @Goonergal. Also, great job on the translation of your blog entry "The Nutritional Thingy," @JoKalsbeek. The translation, in my view, is quite good, I find it surprising what free translation programs can do today. Your advice on eating should be really helpful to...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hello all, Haven't posted for a couple of days. The fasting readings for the last few days were 5.7, 5.6, 5.4, 4.9 and 4.8. Levels actually seem to be lower when I don't exercise the day before -- funny, it used to be the other way around. @ianpspurs -- Hugs to Julie. Hope she'll be on the...

My numbers for Cholesterol shot way high..

Hi @G0ldengirl68, Yes, for some statins seem to raise blood sugar levels (though probably not for all) while lowering cholesterol. However, there are of course also other potential side effects. As to the graph -- what might be confusing is that the graph is not about specific cholesterol...

My numbers for Cholesterol shot way high..

Hi @G0ldengirl68, If it is any consolation (and I really appreciate that you are worried) -- normal blood sugar levels seem to be much more important in preventing heart desease than low cholesterol levels. The figure below is from a study, which has followed women for 21 years (sorry can't...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning, all. Grey skies and temperatures in the low teens here too. Last month was the coldest April in thirty years in Germany and I doubt that May will be much better. Forgot to test upon getting up and only remembered after my first cup of espresso with cream. Blood glucose was 4.7 then.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi all, Fbg 5.6 this morning. @DJC3 -- Hugs. This really sounds scary. How are you feeling now? Thinking of you. @hankjam -- So sorry to read to read about your wife's health issues. No wonder your blood glucose has been up. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of you.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning all, 4.8 today. @Mrs T 123 -- I am with you on the bottomless pit for a stomach. Felt hungry all day yesterday and ate much more than usual. As to the higher fasting levels, my guess would be that it's the vaccine rather than the food. Crossing my fingers that they will be better...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hello all, Haven't posted for a couple of days. Had my first shot of Biontech/Pfizer yesterday and so far, so good, a bit of a sore upper arm, but blood sugars are fine (even though they went up to about 8.0 briefly during and after vaccination, the highest they've been in the last three years...

Taking the 2nd AstraZeneca Jab ???

Hi @Colette2231, Another option to consider: Here in Germany, all the young people who were originally vaccinated with AZ, are now offered either Biontech/Pfizer or Moderna for their second vaccination. (I also believe there has been quite some research done on the effectiveness of...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hello all, 4.9 this morning. Have finally received a date for my first vaccination. Will be interesting to see the impact on my blood sugar levels. @PenguinMum -- Hugs for the wonky blood sugars. Keeping fingers crossed they will normalize soon.

    Remission in 6 months

HI @Sam09, Absolutely stellar results and absolutely inspiriring. Really well done. As to reducing/eliminating metformin -- after I first got to non-diabetic levels, my GP halved my metformin and then eliminated it altogether, and tbh it didn't make a bit of difference to my blood sugar...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi @ianpspurs, I am really glad you seem to have found a way of eating that works better for you:). I can really see how constantly feeling hungry and not enjoying your food will get old very soon (and I know you haven't been happy with lchf for a while). So, I will change my hug into a...
