Stupid weather messing with insulin sensitivity

At least you don't have Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in your weather, preventing you from getting any more insulin or keeping what you already have cold. Here, I'm in the outer rain bands of Irma.

    Vit D shortage

I've read that metformin (a medicine commonly used as the first treatment for type 2 diabetes) can cause vitamin D deficiency severe enough that some people cannot absorb enough vitamin D from pills, and need to get it by injection instead.

My right side is really aching.

I think that the first of the around a dozen I had was about 9 mm. Some types respond to a diet change to make them less likely; mine called for a low calcium diet.

    Carbs in a banana??

A neighbor who used to live in Hawaii said that there are several types of bananas, although only one of these types is normally shipped far enough to be available in regions that don't grow bananas. Could some of these strange values be from measuring the wrong type of banana?

    Pain in legs?

I had swollen and puffy legs for a while; it was diagnosed as congestive heart failure. Later, I found that it was at least partly due to my doctor prescribing too strong a medicine for lowering my blood pressure, and therefore making my blood pressure too low for my kidneys to eliminate excess...

    I'm really anxious and scared

Note that most types of fruit juice have a significant amount of sugar added, and many also contain natural sugar from the fruit. You'd better check the ingredients list if there is one. You could also check this database for information on the natural amount of sugar: USDA Food Composition...

I've seen a few articles lately saying that low gluten diets makes type 2 diabetes more likely. Not much on how much more likely, though.

Is it Low carbs or ketogenic to help neuropathy ?

You should be aware that if you find something that heals the nerves damaged in neuropathy, there are two possible results on how much pain it leaves you, depending on which portion of the nerves heals first. If the portion that senses the pain heals first, the pain will decrease. If the...

It was such good advice to test before and after meals.

You should be aware of the dawn phenomenon, also called Somogyi effect if it occurs but not near dawn. If your blood glucose drops too low, your liver will start dumping any glucose it has stored, and also starts converting proteins into glucose. This may or may not stop when your blood...

    Type 2 Carbs v Sugars

The idea that all starches will digest much slower than table sugar, due to the length of its chain, has been shown to be incorrect. The speed is actually due to the types of links between the simple sugars; each type of link usually needs a separate type of enzyme to break it, and the link...

BUT WE'VE GONE TO THE MOON!?

I've read of a Dr. Faustman at the Massachusetts General Hospital who is researching the possibility of distracting strong immune systems with the BCG vaccine to allow any remaining stem cells in the pancreas to produce more beta cells. The last I knew, it had been reported as tried on three...

BUT WE'VE GONE TO THE MOON!?

I've been looking for a BOINC project aimed at diabetes for years. The closest I ever found was aimed at finding the genetic causes for various conditions, including diabetes, and now appears to have shut down. I did find one that offered to add another condition to their research (GPUGRID)...
