Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I'm quite chuffed with my recent HBA1c results as they have reduced in the last 6 months from 68 mmols or 8.4 % to 53 mmols or 7 %. The Abasaglar & Novorapid seem to be doing the trick & I am thankful. ;)

    Life expectancy

I'm 49 & diagnosed with diabetes last April & told in December I have type 1 diabetes. It all freaked me out at first, including life expectancy. Have always looked after myself, so hope I'm not going anywhere for many decades to come. Fate can do one.

Advice for Cold Feet and Hands

I've suffered with cold feet for years, which has been worse during the winter, as I too am working from home. At the office I always had an electric fan heater near my feet. I can't do that at home due to my dog & the kids being home. However, I did buy a pair of fur lines men's Totes...

    COVID vaccination

I completely understand people's concerns & reservations about having the COVID-19 vaccine. I was in the same situation myself, as initially I was adamant I was not having it. I thought it hasn't been tested over a long period of time, what were the side effects or long-term implications of...

Today I find out I am type 1 diabetic /LADA

By chance in April this year, at the start of Covid pandemic, my doctor requested I be tested for diabetes, as I was experiencing coldness in my foot. I didn't give it a second thought, as I was used to having 3 monthly blood tests as I take Azathioprine for Chrohn's Disease. The day after the...

Can't take much more of this.

Hi Lee. It's perfectly understandable you are feeling the way you do given your current situation. It's so important you are provided with the medical support you need, especially given your medication seems not be helping you at all. I just wondered if you've been under the care of a diabetic...

    Flu vaccination

There is unprecedented demand for the flu vaccine, as we all know. I was originally told I could have the flu vaccine in November. I was advised by a different GP practice to contact my IBD consultant for advice, as I take immunosuppressants for my Chron's disease & was shielding due to...
