    Readings not dropping ?

Thank you all for you prompt replies and words of encouragement. My wife and I both bought Codefree meters at the same time. She regularly got readings in the high 4's and low 5's while I was getting readings in the mid 6's. We swapped meters to test but we still got the same results. So as...

    Readings not dropping ?

I've been LCHF for nearly two and a half years now and have lost about 20 kilos. I'm 175cm tall and my present weight is 85kilos. My blood pressure was previously borderline high is now 105/73 which seems ok. I feel better overall than I have for years ! I'm a 72 year old male. My last HBa1c...

Type 2 Eat to the meter, or play the long game?

I'm taking it you mean keep fasting or whatever until your Blood Glucose is satisfactorily low ? Like 5.5mmol/l for example ? And then eat till you're full but be very strict about carbohydrates. I'm still assuming no one will die due to lack of ingested carbohydrates.....

Type 2 Eat to the meter, or play the long game?

Usually around 6am I am often woken with peculiar sensation in my legs and feel. It's hard to describe but it's like your blood is all of a sudden pumped full of gas and you can feel it bubbling out in your muscles etc. It sometimes borders on the painful side. My DP is all over the ****...

Type 2 Eat to the meter, or play the long game?

Well, that makes sense. I should burn off the overflow by fasting and/or exercise. Wait till my blood is not carrying any excess glucose and then eat. I agree, Jim, I really must start paying closer attention to the amount of protein I eat. I didn't think I was eating too much but I don't...

Type 2 Eat to the meter, or play the long game?

So could I use my meter as a fuel gauge ? If my blood glucose is above, say, 6 mmol/l, I just don't eat at all until it's below 6mmol/l ? I seem to have got myself in a bit of a pickle. I've been as near to Keto as I can for the last year and a half and have had some very encouraging...

    Glucose Meters

So just how inaccurate was your Codefree ? Was it + or - 10%, 20% ? Or was it just regularly reading high ?... or low ? I'm curious, because I'm using a Codefree.

    Blood Glucose drops after eating.

So, nothing to be concerned about ? I was worried that there was a flood of insulin lowering the blood glucose... but then, I am a card carrying hypochondriac ! I've never had a fasting insulin test, can't persuade my doctor to give me a prescription for one. Should I get one privately ?

    Blood Glucose drops after eating.

For the past few weeks my blood glucose has dropped 2 hours after eating. Testing just before eating is usually around 6.2mmols and 2 hours later mid to high 5's. This is eating keto with only trace carbs like broccoli or green beans. Been eating LCHF for over a year and a half now but...

    Do you ride a motorbike?

I know what you mean about "the need for speed" . It's like sex, isn't it ? That perfect co-ordination of choosing a line to the nearest millimetre, the exact amount of lean into a bend and the most delicate control of the throttle to stop things getting out of hand..... pure sex...whatever...

    Do you ride a motorbike?

A lot of the roads I use, as a matter of fact, the majority of the roads I use, are limited to 80 kph and frequently go through towns and hamlets where the limits are often 50 and 30 kph . So my average is often 60 ish kph. Sure, I love the fact that I have a potential of about 180 kph top...

    Do you ride a motorbike?

Last year got back into motorcycling after a 20 year gap. And it's ****** brilliant !! I've got an old but perfectly maintained Yamaha TDM 850. I've only done 12,000 km on it this year, but living in France, I've never ridden it in the rain. I've followed Hannibal's tracks into Italy and...

Type 2 What Happens To Carbs

I've got a liver that's very similar, I can fast for 72 hours and during the first 48 hours my blood glucose can either rise or stay the same, usually in the low 6's. During the last day, my blood glucose might drop to mid 5's, but that's about it. And when I'm not fasting, unless I do at least...

Is it an improvement to split takeaway over a few days

Seriously, you've already had the answer....FatHead Pizza !! Just Google it ! It's so easy, even I can make it. And another thing, I challenge you to eat half of one at one sitting. This is a challenge from someone who could eat a whole 15in pizza by himself.

How long does it take to lower blood sugar by diet alone?

In my experience, stress definitely puts your BG up. Quite considerably too. Even when you reduce stress your BG won't drop overnight it can take a few weeks. Stay calm, best of luck.
