    I can't see how they can stop us eating meat apart fro. Making it very expensive. Also how can they stop us drinking milk. I think the whole idea is unworkable.

    Getting started

    I have the galaxy health app on my phone and I can track the carbs in all meals. I try to keep to 30-50 grams of carbs daily. I have lost just over 2 stones and blood sugar level has reduced. I imagine there are other apps which measure make up of food.

    When diagnosed mine was 49. Last years test results 45. Had test last week in preparation for my annual revue and it has fallen to 39.

    Bare naked noodles contain 0.9gm carb in 100 grams. Expensive and don't taste too bad either.

    Not a good news for keto according to this new study.

    I was put on statins for high cholesterol at the same time my diabetes was diagnosed and was put on LCHF diet. My cholesterol has remained in the satisfactory range. In my case the high cholesterol came before the low carbs.

    Was diagnosed last Febuary and as stated was recommended the low carb diet and forum. However I am going on the Desmond course on Saturday. Don't know what the eat well plate is but if they suggest dumping the low carb high fat diet I will ignore them as I have lost 2 stone on the low carb diet.

    Every day. Have eaten meat for most of my 70 years. Grow my own veg. Free from pesticides and chemicals. It was my diabetic nurse put me on the high fat low carb diet. Working well for me at the moment.

    High fat low carb so plenty of meat. Lots of eggs and different kinds of meat. Needn't be expensive as cheap cuts can be cooked slowly also stock up when supermarket has offers. I am on statins and my cholesterol was with in acceptable levels at last check up

    Measuring carbs

    Samsung health app allows you to keep a record of meals. With veg the measurements are usually cups. Some things are measured in grams but an easy app to use.

    I find bare naked rice is not a bad substitute for rice. A bit more expensive but zero carbs. I also do my own cauliflower rice.

    Why oh why did I ever stop low carbing??

    Had a couple of coach holidays where I have lapsed and put on weight but always managed to get back on track in between. Can see how easy it would be to slip but have more or less managed to stay on track.
