    New T1 And Completely Overwhelmed!

Thanks Sue, I’ve been meaning to ask my dietician or DN and keep forgetting I tend to only eat salads for lunch so have been having to have a pitta or flatbread so I that I take a unit but I think I’ll give it go and keep an eye on levels xxx

    New T1 And Completely Overwhelmed!

Hi Sue, Sorry to butt in to someone else’s post you mentioned something I’ve been wondering since diagnosis in April, can I eat a carb free lunch (salad for example) and take any insulin? Julie x

No I hadn’t realised you could inject that far ahead, I currently inject pretty much as I’m sitting down to eat but I’ll certainly start moving it back slowly to try. Thanks.

    Me Again

My ratios are all slightly different at the moment 1:14 for breakfast, 1:20 for lunch and 1:12 for dinner and you’re right I’m newly diagnosed 10 weeks ago. There has been a mention of a half unit pen from my DN.

    Me Again

Hi everyone, Sorry for random questions every few days. I find that if I test 2 hours after meals my readings can be on the high side but by my next meal they’re generally right. The one time I corrected with a unit of insulin led to a hypo 2 hours later. Is it ok that it’s on the high side...

    What apps do you use?

Hi everyone, 9 weeks in and I’ve been using carbs and Cals (as suggested by the dietician) and Dafne online to record my readings. Love carb and cals for eating out etc. Any other suggestions that others are using? Julie

    Type 1. 3 weeks diagnosed.

Hi Lorna, Hang in there, I’m no expert yet as I am 9’weeks in BUT it already feels more settled than it did a few weeks ago. I still think about it pretty much all the time and have been nervous each time I’ve done something new like eat out, even going to the pics terrified me. My ratio of...

    Honeymooning still at 8 weeks?

Helen I love this :) what a brilliant way of describing it. Thank you, this has really helped me when I’ve had a ****** week so far. I’m pretty inpatient and put myself under pressure (in everything) to expect improvement quickly. Your post is very encouraging and positive x

    Honeymooning still at 8 weeks?

Thanks Helen. Nothing has really changed other than me feeling really fed up with this at the moment. I just worry that I’m doing something wrong.

    Honeymooning still at 8 weeks?

Morning everyone :) I thought my readings were settling after a few weeks but the last week or so they seem to be creeping up. My ratios are 14:1 for breakfast, 20:1 for lunch and 12:1 for dinner with 13 units of Lantus at 10pm. My 10pm reading has nearly always been in the teens but starts...

Type 1 and adjustments at work

I’m currently 7 weeks post diagnosis and due to my blurry eyes and other bits I’m still off work but returning soon. Thankfully, I have had great support so far from work. Occupational health rang me on week 3 and advised me to consider having 8 weeks off and then a month of phased return. They...
