    Timing Problems - Novorapid?

forgot to ask what he ate for his dinner as some foods like pasta and pizza can take a long time to be digested, especially large quantities. This may also explain the low after 2 hours and then the steady increase after.

    Timing Problems - Novorapid?

It could happen for a variety of reasons, but most probably It could be that the ratio of novorapid at the meal time is too much and the levemir not enough. The only way to check is to do some fasting tests. Try and give some non carb foods around tea time and then do some hourly checks from...

    Help

yes she can. the lantus is the slow acting insulin used to deal with the glucose produced by the liver and is given usually once or twice a day , some take theirs at breakfast time so would be having that and their novorapid with their breakfast. The novo rapid is the quick acting insulin given...

    ketones question

yes, keep checking bg every 2/3 hours and giving fast acting insulin to bring her bg down. Try and get her to drink lots of water as this will help flush out the ketones and keep her hydrated. It might help her to stop feeling so sick as high bg levels can make you feel queezy

Next gen (smaller) Omnipods in use...

We should get ours any day now! I've been told that there is now a USB link so you can transfer data for your computer. Another thing ( although negative for us) is that you can zap yourself with the PDM from a further distance. My DSN told me they were having some problems to do with...

    Tummy Pains

being low may make her feel a bit shaky and wobbly and give her a funny sensation in her tummy so it's probably that. i would however speak to your DSN to rule out other conditions like ceoliac as being a type 1 diabetic increases your risk of getting this autoimmune disease. In some areas...

    Snap!

Hi Spearmint I'm sure you will see improvements with pumping. Your daughters reading is excellent already so the pump should give you the tools to get even tighter control. More importantly it should make things easier for your daughter in terms of bolusing and not having to remember timings...

    Snap!

My son is 8 and daughter 9, so I am managing them. I am worried about the teenage years as I know that their bloods will fluctuate more and also they will spend more time in the driving seat!! My husband also has type 1 so they have grown up in a house where blood testing and injections are...

    Snap!

My kids had clinic today and their Hba1cs were both 6.6 ! They are normally pretty similar and I know if they vary dramatically I would feel a tad guilty that I achieved better control for one than the other. Still having the problems at night, but at least my lack of sleep is just a small...

    STRESS + TYPE 1 DIABETES

It might be worth speaking with your teachers and seeing if you can get an extension to give you a bit more time. This hopefully will make things a bit easier. It is important you remember to take your insulin so a good way to remember is to set an alarm on your mobile phone and if you're like...

the veo pump or the omnipod?

We love the Omnipod and I have to agree the customer service is fantastic. Our sales rep rang me a few days back to tell me that the new DM and smaller pods will be out in early Nov. He spent over an hour talking to me about the improvements made to the meter and pods and I was very impressed...

Suitable trick and treat "treats" for the kids?

My children are allowed to eat anything that I can work out the carbs. The only stipulation is that they eat any sweets / cakes as part of a meal replacing a pudding, this way they get to enjoy the treats and not feel left out, I can also work it into a meal so they get a mix of fast and slow...

I think my great Grandaughter has Diabetes

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopfully it isn't diabetes , but she is NOT too young to be tested. Babies can get type 1 and unfortunately there is a significant increase in the number of very young children being diagnosed. I suggest you go into your GP tomorrow and get her tested. You can also do...

I think my great Grandaughter has Diabetes

With a child so young it is vital she is seen immediately. If she does have diabetes then a child can fall Ill very quickly as high blood sugar can lead to something called Ketoacidosis which can lead to coma. She is not too young to be tested so If it was my child I would take her to A&E...

    a bit fed up!!!!!

We did find novomix a bit restrictive too, but if your daughter is happy with this, there is no reason why she can't eat the goodies and take some nova rapid to cover the extra carbs. It is not possible to stop her wanting the treats like her friends, but if she understands that she needs to...
