Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

I too have an angry rash front of my neck (like a sore razor rash), I thought perhaps due to metformin since increased to 1000 mg per day. Should not really drink with metformin so I tend to adjust my dose time when drinking 'red wine' so as not to conflict.

    personal question. please answer

I know these posts are from ladies but I too had thrush when I was first diagnosed T2. I was told this was a common side effect and therefore used the canestan treatment. So looks as though it is 'another' complaint that comes with being diabetic?

    Olympics

Total waste of money! It is 'playing' games… You play games and spend money on recreation when… You have fed the children… OAPs have enough money to switch on another bar on the fire… You don't have to sell your house to raise the money for that operation or course of drugs, or buy testing...

    Green Tea

Hi noblehead I didn't mean to scare anyone, as my levels dropped low a friend mentioned could it be the amount of tea I was drinking? Found on medical research pages on the net, but you are right to say if you have existing conditions. As we know it has great healing properties but can react...

    Green Tea

I have been drinking around 6 cups of Green Tea per day as all good for many reasons… BUT, my levels drop to around 4 at around 4 each day and have discovered that Green Tea can lower blood sugar levels and in fact people have died from too much? Apparently you should not exceed 4 cups per...

Testing strips petition and Diabetes UK policy

From what I have read on these forums it appears to be perhaps a post code lottery, again, whether you have strips free or not? I am lucky to receive mine free, when I was diagnosed last year they gave me a kit with strips which I found difficult to use (have stupid needle phobia!). So I...

    1st Christmas as a Diabetic

Hi Sue You took the words from my mouth - I was saying just the same things to my work colleagues the other day, my first year too and this 'next' hurdle only sunk in this week when I saw all the Xmas food in Sainsbury's. Never had a sweet tooth, not had added sugar or salt for most of my...

Levels now lower but too low each day

Thanks angleG, My levels are now between 4 to 7.6 whatever time of the day, so within normal range. My diabetic nurse suggested dropping 80mg Glic in the morning and replace with another 500mg Metformin. Shall speak to her...

Levels now lower but too low each day

Hi evilcat, I too have porridge every morning (spent most of my life not having any breakfast!) In a way good to know someone else has similar 'figures'. Looking at posts on the forum, levels and treatments vary vastly and it is difficult to get a comparison. My big worry is the thought of...

Levels now lower but too low each day

Hi Been a while since on the forum - started with a reading of 22+ back in April, put on 320mg Gliclazide per day and now 240mg Gliclazide and 500mg Metformin per day and levels are good (4 to 9) but I have found that by around 4pm each day my levels drop and lowest has been 2.7. My surgery...

Newly Diagnosed and Getting Bad Advice (I think)

Thank you Unbeliever. What may make everyone laugh, is that I have extreme needle phobia, so even using an Easy Touch to use with the meter, I can't bring myself to press the trigger!! Have to get my partner to press it. I fiddled around so much the other day that I ended up stabbing myself in...

Newly Diagnosed and Getting Bad Advice (I think)

Hi All, I too was diagnosed on 18th with level of 22.1! As it was just before the bank holiday/s they gave me a testing kit and put me on Gliclazide 80mg. Told to eat hi-carb bread, potatoes and rice? Contrary to all the superb advice on this forum. The hospital called on the Wednesday, to...
