Has anyone experienced fruity breath on lchf

I often still get high numbers in the morning - I guess this might be dawn phenomenon where your liver keeps dumping glucose into your blood stream to get you up and ready for the day. I do find eating breakfast stops this (and I try to stick to something like nuts). I too have awoken with the...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

The more I read about this disease, the more it sounds very similar to a very bad chest infection I had last year (which also revealed me as a diabetic!) that lasted 2 months with 2 terrible weeks in between where I literally could do nothing, barely could move :( It wouldn't surprise me if...

Is Everyone Managing to Eat usual foods?

I had trouble finding chicken and eggs - but I eventually got them. There are a couple of items I still cannot get, but no biggie - I have a well stocked freezer and can always find a substitute!

    Type 1 Skinny LCHF

I'm not sure how you keep your food diary, but there are some apps like carbs and cals which also track carbs as well as calories. Exercise I normally rely on my fitbit to give me an estimate. Hope that helps.

    Age related brain deterioration

I noticed at the end of the article they mentioned whole grains - I guess the media finds it hard to give up carbs too? :D

    Blood test Liver worry

Yes, my levels have been all over the place since I was diagnosed. But no one is 100% sure it is an issue - it could be down to the fact I was losing lots of weight at the time and I have gallstones. I'm getting another test in a month and my weight has been steady for a few months now, so we...

    Ezekiel Bread

I had to look that bread up as I'd never heard of it :D a very interesting read, however I didn't see anything about it being better for blood sugar? I'd be interested to try it if I come across it.

    Itchy skin

Is your skin dry? I've had trouble with very itchy skin and I think it has alot to do with indoor heating right now...Lack of Vitamin D and A also cause dry skin iirc.

    C-peptide test

It may vary depending on your country? In the UK, I go to the hospital which also runs the test (its funny when the nurses are like, ice? I need ice??). I usually have the results within 2 weeks (I believe they run the test very quickly hence the ice). May be worth checking up on it? I have to...

    Fed up.

If the body worked consistently across all people, ages and genders, we wouldn't be here swapping numbers ;) But seriously, if there is anything I have learned, the endocrine system is a complex and finicky thing that no one truly understands...

How to replace breadcrumbs and flour in meatball recipes?

I have seen one keto chef use psyllium husk instead of breadcrumbs, however it was in a coating meat and then frying it crispy recipe! Not sure how/if it could work for meatballs. What do the breadcrumbs do exactly?

    Totally unrelated to diabetes !!!

This is what I thought! I am right side dominant and suffer from dry hands and feet mainly on the right side (with a slight numbness in sensation on the feet, nurse doesnt think there is damage there though), my muscles on my right leg are also weaker (collapsed arch - when doing the...

    Fed up.

I have that issue with boredom and food - you might benefit from being a little mindful about it, for example, I always stop and think and then try to drink some water or go for a walk. Many times the impulse goes away. Also evaluate why you are turning to food, is it a habit that you always...

First day with blood glucose monitor

Welcome! I will let someone else comment on the desmond course as I have never attended, but the eat well plate doesnt have many fans on this forum :D Your blood sugar figures are overall a little high but that is to be expected at the beginning of your journey. My figures started dropping...

    low carb, high fat

Ah, thank you - I do remember now a vegan diet was being proposed, Barnard rings a bell so I must have been watching a video with him. I think this is why I ignored it at the time, I find it ridiculous that anyone would assume an all vegan diet is natural - there is evidence humans have been...
