Enterosgel - is it safe for T1D to use?

FAB thank you. I half wondered if it'd be GOOD for T1D, as it apparently absorbs harmful bugs in the gut - which I think there's been some research on.... Maybe it might help with allergies, in that case. Wishful thinking maybe. But I'll give it a go. Thank you for replying :-)

Freestyle Libre - Does anyone put it anywhere other than their arm?

I know what you mean. We decided to take the risk and if it didn't work, realised we couldn't complain. But where there is a nice healthy and abundant supply of interstitial fluid, my guess would be that it'll work well. I think that when (if?) Abbot do more research and realise it works on lots...

Type 1 Freestyle libre sensor sites

My son hated it on his arm. Hated that it showed and hated because it felt annoying to him. Now puts it on his thigh - happy days. Doesn't feel it going in, or notice it for the 2 weeks. Puts it on upper thigh and it's totally hidden by boxer shorts. It's worked fine for us and we trust its...

Freestyle Libre - Does anyone put it anywhere other than their arm?

Honestly, my son gets really accurate numbers on his thigh. There's a bit more "meat" there than on the arms and I wonder if that's why it works really well. They're far easier to put in on the thigh too. We lost a few that he put into the arm, but the thigh - can't really go wrong. And...

Freestyle Libre - Does anyone put it anywhere other than their arm?

My son hated it in his arm. Wears it on his thigh v high up and you can't even see it when he's wearing boxer shorts. Works perfectly there and doesn't bother him. Not licensed to wear there, but if it works, who cares. Hope this helps Sarah.

    The Freestyle Libre affect

Thanks for this. I need to learn as much as I can and so does he. I guess I'll have to watch out for bigger highs with him for the day the honeymoon truly ends. Hopefully not for a long time though. (I live in hope a lot these days.) I know you're supposed to be 7 or less when you eat ideally...

    The Freestyle Libre affect

Haha. I use a lot of new terminology myself and fiddlesticks* or similar is a common one :-) Diabetes seems to keep me on my toes: what works one day or for while seems to not work and then be fine again. To have a bedtime snack or not to have a bedtime snack..... My son seems to sometimes...

Ah thanks - sorry for being dim. All new to me. A subject I wish I never had to learn about though :-(

    The Freestyle Libre affect

I am new to diabetes. What do these abbreviations mean: HCP, DP? My recently diagnosed T1D son uses Libre and we love it. But what are we missing by not monitoring? Thanks.

Aged 16 and looking for people to talk to:)

And stay strong. You are coping with something big, which makes you amazing and inspirational. I feel very humbled by you all, who deal with what you do, day in, day out. It will give you skills others will never learn.

I agree that it makes you mature and resilient. At my son's school, there is a school nurse who spoke to the form class last November, when he was diagnosed. She basically said she'd not tolerate any teasing or negative comments and if she heard of anything, the people concerned would have her...

Aged 16 and looking for people to talk to:)

Hi Beth, He's a boy and he doesn't really do "talking," but I wish he did. I will ask him if he'll connect with you online. He's doing GCSEs and it's a bit stressful - diagnosed 6m ago, lost friendships of people he considered to be "good" friends. Also awaiting a Coeliac biopsy. V difficult...

    Magic Wand

Oh what a lovely idea. I'm greedy and would want to use the wand to wave diabetes away for everyone forever.....

Aged 16 and looking for people to talk to:)

My 16 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 6 months ago. He says he's doing really well, but I worry he feels "different" and doesn't have people in his life who can relate to what he's living with. We're in North Somerset, so I'm keen to help him connect with people of a similar age not too...
