INSULIN RESISTANCE DUE TO HIGH FAT EATING ??

I watched it and didn't agree with him as if there's one thing I wasn't eating lots of before diagnosis it's fat. Low fat didn't help me unfortunately.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks @DJC3 and @ziggy_w - now if I could just work out why it was good today I'm onto a winner - went to bed earlier last night, need to keep the early nights going and see what happens.

What do you miss the most before becoming diabetic?

Mangoes - frozen mango chunks were a lovely 'healthy' treat on a hot day. I was partial to dried mangoes too. I used to eat a lot of 'healthy' foods with natural sugars in.

The Newcastle Diet and reversing #Type2Diabetes. What you think?

I haven't achieved a year under 48, so am only an anecdotal example of the early results. As for featuring my story in your book, I'm not necessarily up for that, plus I believe this website owns the copyright for anything written on here so you'd have to get permission from them! But good luck...

The Newcastle Diet and reversing #Type2Diabetes. What you think?

I did The Blood Sugar Diet by Dr Michael Mosley which is based on the Newcastle Diet but uses real food. I lost over 20 pounds very quickly on it and now have an HbA1c of 42, so according to Prof Roy Taylor's lenient criteria I did indeed reverse my diabetes. I wouldn't have been able to face...

Type 2 Has anyone tried Lo Dough

"Now the downside..." Haha! You had me spluttering my tea at that @Jo_the_boat! I tried a sample pack of 2 pieces for the ridiculous price of something like £5 - as a wrap it was nice but as a pizza base it was nothing to write home about. Livlife bread at 4g carbs for a small slice is a...

    One Year On

"My diabetes diagnosis really has been a blessing in disguise, as a result of it I am so much fitter than I was this time last year!" - can totally relate to this. Congrats on your continuing success @Rachox, as others have said you are an inspiration and always helping others with their questions.

How quickly should my HBA1C go down?

This is where I find WFPB so fascinating - as what I've learned through my research into low carbing is that an excess of fructose that causes a fatty liver - so I limit fruit a lot in my own diet. Before diagnosis I was on Slimming World and eating a lot of fruit. I love avocado - again limited...

    ADA and Low carb diets

"and there was an almost 0.1% increase in A1C for each additional 10 grams of carbohydrates consumed." - wow, never seen such a specific reference like this before.

How quickly should my HBA1C go down?

Ah sorry - missed the fact you are breastfeeding - no idea what the recommendations for fasting when doing that are, maybe do an ask in the fasting sub forum on here?

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Didn't have time to take it first thing, so 6 this morning after an hour of rushing around getting kids ready for school.

How quickly should my HBA1C go down?

Dr Jason Fung is great and he and also Professor Roy Taylor believe it is the visceral fat inside the liver and pancreas which causes type 2 diabetes. Dr Fung is massively into fasting, which I have dabbled with - for me the best results are when I stop eating at 8pm and then don't eat again...

How quickly should my HBA1C go down?

Even if it's not a morning fasting reading, your liver will dump sugar into the blood if it thinks you need it. The other option for a ppd reading is that you ate something with 'slow release' carbs or lot of protein (or lots of fat - but I'm guessing there was no fat in your meal) that took a...
