    Statins for over 40

If you don't want to take them, then don't. It's that simple, you don't have to and you cannot be forced to do so. I'm 51, never been offered statins and wouldn't accept them anyway. I have never heard of needing to take them because you over 40, who told you this and did they produce any reason?

IF this watch glucose tech is for real what happens to £50 Libre sensors

If is the big question... If it works reliably, but I'd want one for sure if it does.

    Well I never...

When you are carb intolerant, doing these kinds of things is a bit like poking the bear.... but by all means do as you please and see what happens. As has been pointed out, you may not see a bad result at 2 hrs, but 3 hrs later could well be different. Also, fat delays the rise in blood glucose...

    Updated: Latest results etc

Latest A1c is 40 or 5.8.... so basically stable. No cholesterol results except for trigs 1.0 and a useless total of 4.4 and fasted they were. Basically unchanged. I also have NASH liver disease, latest scans and results have shown improvement, which is good news. My liver is a normal size...

An interesting discussion with a diabetes nurse.

@BRSBRI - you're a winner, congrats on the outstanding results. Carry on, I see no need to change anything except DSN's :D

    Prediabetes and statins

Personally, I would never take anything if not given an explanation as to why I need something. You don't have to and you have every right to refuse them. If he cannot provide an answer, then that sounds a bit dodgy to me being they receive financial rewards for every patient they put on...

Have you taken the CARB cracker test?

I know people like bread, but I'm pretty sure what you are eating isn't the standard loaf off the shelf at the supermarket like what most people are eating. Which is what I was referring to. Each to their own however. I've tried making the low carb ones, not with much success, they came out...

Have you taken the CARB cracker test?

Bread is just an aweful choice, carbs all turn to sugar and it's generally loaded with unhealthy seed oils.... the advice to eat that is imo horrid.

    At a loss

It may well help to have a run down of what you are eating for meals and snacks on a daily basis. Apples can really send some people's levels through the roof and not all nuts are the same, some can have a lot more carbs then others. So, just a rough idea of what you are typically eating would...

    Diagnosed today, in shock

Agree with @Mike d Get yourself a monitor, you simply cannot manage a condition if you don't measure. You wouldn't try driving a car blind folded, that's what not monitoring is like... ignore the GP on this. Being told you don't need to is absolute rubbish and a cost cutting measure. I'm...

    high reading confused

All those carbs are going to be the cause of spikes. I can't see remission happening by eating those foods each day. How often are you testing? Here's some good info from one of our members here about diet. Assuming you are type 2...
