Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Not sure I'm worried - though maybe I should be?? - advice I was given (nb taking insulin and metformin) was fasting between 5.0 and 7.0 was fine - after meals below 10 was the figure to aim for. Generally I fit in to these parameters - though I realise others seem to have received different advice

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Well it was a while ago now (it's 4.25 in the afternoon here now) but haven't joined in for a while - so 6.6 at 7.05am - late for me to test but busy before that with 3 year old grandson (parents away with work this weekend) who didn't want to sleep!!! Did have a very naughty takeaway Indian...

    Eye Test Screening Results

Thanks for the response @wiseowl_123 - guess it's worthwhile having the "proper" test then, if it does get reviewed by 3 specialists - just glad to hear that waiting 6 weeks for a result isn't such a problem I thought it might be, if you've already been given the OK at Specsavers As for...

    Diabetes and the Hospital

I guess with my dosage - I just like to be different:) - but it certainly seems to be working for me (touch wood!!) Certainly never had a hypo (so far) - looking back through my record, lowest I went down to was 3.9 one morning in January after a 40 minute bike ride - but no hypo "feelings" I...

    Eye Test Screening Results

@wiseowl_123 - congrats on your results - I am intrigued that you go to a special centre for eye testing - and wait for results - it's interesting how things are handled in different countries. Here in Australia, I just make an appointment with my local Specsavers branch where I have always got...

    Diabetes and the Hospital

@Educator123 - thanks for the Passport info - not sure there is something similar here - but as per my signature, I've only been diagnosed since November. Fortunately my control seems to have stabilised very effectively - everyone seems happy with figures. I have been told my surgery will...

Taking the Driving Seat .. and now going Full Throttle

Thanks for the links @AM1874 - from just a quick wizz through the very impressive looking sites, what an incredible life he led - they were an amazing generation. Will read again in more detail later - also look to be some fascinating links. Thanks again

    Lidl's High Protein Rolls

Yes it seems that Lidl have been on the horizon for a while now, but not getting any closer unfortunately........Most of my shopping is at Aldi (not sure how many they have in the Newcastle and surrounding areas - but there are lots) with just occasional top ups at Coles and Woolies. I know our...

Taking the Driving Seat .. and now going Full Throttle

Wow @AM1874 - and I was impressed at my results after 3 months - huge improvements for you in just a month - shame about your GP though. Keep on keeping on..... PS - fascinated by your avatar pic - is he an ancestor?

    Lidl's High Protein Rolls

Certainly when I shopped at Lidl in France - and Germany, all the stores had an inhouse baking machine and sold a variety of rolls loose. I loved the pumpkin seed ones, but of course didn't have diabetes diagnosed back then. Guess I presumed all Lidls were set up the same way - much as Aldi do...

    Diabetes and the Hospital

Can I ask what a Diabetic Passport is?? I'm in Australia, so can't meaningfully add to your research - though I am due to have a bilateral TKR on 4th April in a private hospital here, so will be interested to see how my T2 (on insulin) is handled

Pretty happy with first HbA1c since diagnosis

Got results from my first HbA1c test since diagnosis this morning - GP reckons it great and I'm doing everything right!!! At diagnosis (with no symptoms) - 13.7% (126mmol/mol) - now 6.9% (52mmol/mol) Still working at reducing carbs so hopefully can only get better - or at least no worse See...

    Snacks to eat

Thanks Alison - looks good - unfortunately the Walden Farms products don't seem to be available in Australia - (and at £75 something for delivery via Amazon for a £4 bottle of the syrup - I don't think so!!) - will have to buy up big when next in Britain.

    Snacks to eat

Thanks for the link @AndBreathe - looks interesting - though her recipe is actually for a hot Baileys flavour Irish Coffee - will probably wait a month or two till it gets cooler down in this neck of the woods before I give it a try. Not sure about chocolate flavoured liquid stevia as an...

    Lidl's High Protein Rolls

    Snacks to eat

PLEASE - pretty please @Alison Campbell - can you share your low carb home made Baileys recipe - it is one of my sinful pleasures - though I buy the Aldi O'Donnells version (pretty sure they sell this in the UK too) and to be honest, I think I now prefer that to the original - having bought a...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Glad I'm not the only one!!!! 7.1 this morning - highest for nearly a month - but in my defence - it was at the unusually late hour of 9.10am (normally around 6am) and after a naughty evening with wine, chocolate and Baileys - skyping an old friend on the other side of the world!! Back to...
