Type 1: High morning blood sugar/ Dawn Phenomenon

Thank you. I usually eat between 6pm and 7pm, never terribly late if I can help it as I like to know where I am before bed. That's interesting. I had some curry last night - a ready meal - but the carbs in it were relatively low compared to what I know others eat at meals. I was then hungry...

Type 1: High morning blood sugar/ Dawn Phenomenon

@azure I did try doing a 6u correction one morning at 3am and I woke up at the same value at 8am. Frustrating times. @GrantGam1337 I think that's a good idea. I was always sure that there was a peak to the basal so it might just help. At this stage, I'll try anything. @catapillar Sure is...

Type 1: High morning blood sugar/ Dawn Phenomenon

@GrantGam1337 I split the Levermir twelve hours apart 35u and 35u at 8am and pm. It's just such a high jump when all I'm doing is sleeping. @catapillar I usually go to bed about 5-9, it just depends really. Trying to get the control tighter in the day as I know just how much it will unravel as...

Type 1: High morning blood sugar/ Dawn Phenomenon

Hi all, I've been struggling with high waking blood sugars which I've attributed to a Dawn Phenomenon (although a consult I saw was sceptical despite a months of Libre data showing it) that I see start to rise my sugars at around 3-4am. I was just wondering how other people deal with them? I...

Thank you. Changing the insulin rather than the dose? Interesting.

    Post-dafne Sugars

I went to A & E tonight. Couldn't get my sugars below 20 all day with big correction doses and increased BI. It's finally started to come down. I don't really understand it. I'm having protein-based snacks - when I snack at all. I just feel I'm resistant to the insulin for some reason. I'll talk...

    Post-dafne Sugars

Well, I'm not low carbing deliberately. The nurse said I may be insulin resistant and I was taking metformin for a while but I stopped it during Dafne and my sugars were better and the insulin appeared to be working better. It's just strange.

I wait for two hours usually as the insulin has only started working by then. One hour is too quick usually. Thanks bondj700.

I'll check and test the basal rate and see where that is leaving me. It's just annoying that I've run out of Libre sensors so I'll need to get up for a test but that's fine. Thanks for all the help! I'll email the DSN and course leader and see what they suggest.

Thanks both. I'll test more and see what happens!

    Post-dafne Sugars

Hello, Can anyone have a look at my sugars for me (link below)? I did DAFNE a week ago. I reduced my BI from 35u twice a day at 8am and 8pm as advised, but I've now upped it a touch to 27u twice a day because of the high morning readings. All in all it seems to not be working for me... yet...

Insulin Sensitivity Based On Weight And/or High Blood Sugar

I split it, 25u each time: 8am and 8pm. I'm going to try 2:1 ratio tonight and see what happens. Thanks. I'll try that. Spoke to the nurse and she said to do the same thing. Increase the ratio and see what happens.

Insulin Sensitivity Based On Weight And/or High Blood Sugar

@Juicyj I had a lamb shank and a few potatoes and two slices of garlic bread and I think I carb counted correctly but got the ratio wrong. Always a bit worried to do a big dose of insulin at night. It was particularly fatty like a curry which does make me go a little mad for a bit but I'll keep...

Insulin Sensitivity Based On Weight And/or High Blood Sugar

Thanks for all the replies. I split my Levermir into two doses; one at 8am and 8pm of 25u each. I've recently lowered my dose to these levels as I was on 35 each time. I found I was more sensitive to the insulin and stopped taking the one daily, with dinner, Metformin as a consequence. I'm...

Insulin Sensitivity Based On Weight And/or High Blood Sugar

Hi all, I was wondering if there are any tables that show the effectiveness of insulin for different weights or when our blood sugars are high. I'm trying to crack why I have high morning sugars and can never inject the right amount to bring it down. 4u hardly touches it (which DAFNE suggests...

Are you doing blood based checks, too? Sometimes my Libre shoots up and down for no reason.

1 unit would have been a good idea! Least I know now.
