    Unopened & unused insulin

Copy of reply from IDDT (InDependent Diabetes Trust). Received May 2021. Looking at their website, looks like nothing has changed since I got this reply. ----------------------------------------------------------------- "Hello Chris, Thank you for getting in touch about your unwanted...

    Any advice please

Yes, agreed with the low carb thing. I'm not a low carber; however: I have a note book that I record how different meals have affected my blood sugar. And that has helped me create an ongoing list of foods to avoid! I also have my safe meals, (I think that must be all of my meals? I've had...

    Any advice please

Hi DannyH, hope you are feeling okay today? (Considering everything you are going through). 12 months ago my Diabetes Team was at my GP surgery, what I didn't realize at the time, they were failing me, in 18 months there were 3 different nurses, no follow up, etc. I think a lot of their...

    Nostalgia Game

Nice! if only I'd had something vaguely similar to the bat phone as a kid, my parents favoured beiges and browns! The only reason I know a lot about old phones is down to my research and correspondence with the guy who restores the antique phones. I will post images of some of my other...

    Nostalgia Game

During lockdown we discovered that the phone in the hall had stopped working, I took on the task of finding a replacement... (much to my wifes annoyance I did a lot of research and solved the issue) The red GPO 706L (1959-1967) is amazing, it sounds awesome when it rings, when I grew up I only...

What’s wrong with yellow jelly babies?

I've just discovered a bag of jelly babies I'd left on the dashboard for a couple of days... The horror!

How many hypos a week do you have?

What I meant to imply is that if I were to solely rely on Libre for driving or to work, there would be occasions when Libre reports a low when in fact my BG is in range. By carrying out a finger prick test and recording it, I can demonstrate that I am managing my T1 with diligence should my...

How many hypos a week do you have?

Today Libre 1 has reported numerous hypos, in reality my blood glucose has probably averaged 6.0 mmol/L, and I have had one low blood sugar. The Libre sensor this 14 day period can go as low as 2.9mmol/L when my actual blood sugar with a finger prick test is 4.4 mmol/L I finger prick test to...

    diff results diff fingers

Hi, when I calibrate XDrip, it asks for 2 blood tests and when I did it yesterday little finger was 4.8 mmol/L and ring finger was 5.4 mmol/L, washed hands prior to test. I think there is a tolerance range of accuracy that is 'acceptable'? I've had larger differences on left and right hands...

    Hypo goodies

Hi Lisa69free, This has also caused me problems at work, which on most occasions have taken more time to resolve, than prevent in the first place! Depending on situation, as soon as I've taken a pre-meal bolus, I will normally set a 15 minute alarm on my phone to eat. 15 minutes can run to 30...

Power cut and meds in fridge

Update, I brought some fridge thermometers from Amazon and placed them at different locations in the fridge. Lots of places on the shelves that are too cold, when I find a place just right, the thermometer ends up getting pushed to the back of the fridge over time, which is colder. In my fridge...

    Fibre magic

Sorry Lisa69free, I immediately went off of your topic of Fibre! Apologies for that. Would this be additional fibre to the recommended 30g a day?

    Fibre magic

Hi, I eat Lidls Wholemeal seeded Farmhouse, it works for me (no spike and 15.5g per slice). Also as a family we have converted to wholemeal pasta, cooled down once cooked then reheated this then doesn't cause my blood sugar to spike (this process lowers its value on the glycemic index?).

    Starting Libre 1 early

Hi, Because both the sensors will be physically so close to each other for the 24 hour period (within an inch or so), My only concern now is; will the trauma of the new sensor affect the old sensors last 24 hours of readings?

    Starting Libre 1 early

I'll give it a go, thanks. Hopefully It will eek out to 14 days after my 24 hour 'warm up'. And hopefully there is no trauma. Because I sleep on my right I kept having compression lows, and I just couldn't retrain myself to change to sleeping on my left, if I sleep on my back my snoring...

    Starting Libre 1 early

Hi, Wow, so much info, thanks. Okay, so I'll basically lose a day if I "warm up" sensor prior to activating 24 hours early, as the battery will only last the 14 days. So I don't know if I'll be achieving much as the new sensor will cause trauma adjacent to the current one. So my 24 hours of...

    Starting Libre 1 early

Thanks all, I will bed the new one on tomorrow, and start it once the old one has stopped working. If it wasn't for using a MM also, I would probably try the Libre somewhere completely different,. Thanks again [emoji106]

    Starting Libre 1 early

Hi all, I know some of you start your freestyle Libres early, I just wanted to ask a question about this. I've searched unsuccessfully for answer. Anyway, my current sensor is due to end on Monday at 8pm. I wanted to warm up the replacement sensor a day earlier (first 24 hours are normally a...

Type 1 High blood sugar during the night.

Last night I had my evening meal at 18:30, quite carby (79g reheated ravioli and wholemeal bread) with a split dose. Basal dose and bed at 23:30. A nice level night. I'll see if I can repeat it tonight?

Type 1 High blood sugar during the night.

Hi ert, majority of my evening meals are about 60g of carbs. And I avoid food that spike my BS, I also try to avoid too protein much in one hit. I'm not a real foody type of person. If my family are having pizza, I'll just have cod roe on wholemeal seeded (Lidl) toast (45g CHO), which has never...
