    Fasting BG level

Yes, they do come down eventually, I only said they are the hardest to get under control - but not impossible as you say. Also, I do check now and again as I said, but for a new person with limited supplies of strips I believe it's more useful for them to use their strips working out what they...

    Wallander Miserable?

You were lucky to wake up. He's been known to inflict fatal levels of boredom.

    Got my BG Meter

If it's fish in batter, the batter will hit the reading more than the chips. Bet you get a high one. And yes, once in a while CAN hurt in my books for a number of reasons - ask any ex-smoker about "an occasional fag once in a while...." However, I'd be interested to see the results, so go for it!

    Wallander Miserable?

I've noticed that in the TV series, Wallander and his mates seem permanently depressed and miserable, and walk around in permanent rain. I know how they feel now!

    NEWLY DIAGNOSED

Hi and welcome to both raione and jezcrazy. Any questions, just fire away. Jezcrazy, I'm sure your health trainer is great, but just remember that what's healthy for a non-diabetic can be decidedly unhealthy for a diabetic. Do read about diet on this forum as well.

    Metformin could help prostate cancer

Yay, good old Metformin! It'll probably be in the new over-50s "wonder pill" that incluides aspirin, statin, and a BP lowerer that we all take automatically.

    Liver dump ?

I agree with Daibell. It can be really hard working out what contributed to a morning reading and I seldom test in the morning also. Your reading probably was a result of a form of liver dump called "dawn phenomenon" where the liver releases glucose into our blood to prepare us for the days...
