    Statins

This is really good to know, thanks! I've recently switched hospitals, and my old consultant always told me my cholesterol was relatively high which was due to a high LDL level, so he was never worried about it. My first appointment with my new clinic my DSN told me my cholesterol was too high...

Suggested new insulin’s after 19 years...

I've also just been put on Tresiba (I was on 2x Levemir). It was quite a strange appointment. He was gushing about how impressed he was with my control since I started using the Libre, then in the same sentence went "I'm going to put you on a new insulin!" Hoping it works out for me as with...

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

And just like that, I see my consultant this afternoon and he's changing me to Tresiba [emoji23] now I can start the whole process over again

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

Update: I took my Levemir at 11pm last night instead of 8pm and this morning looked a LOT better. Hopefully this will keep up! Thanks for the advice everyone!

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

How did you end up on that regime? Did your consultant suggest it or did you research it and request it from them?

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

Yes, definitely. The readings are 100% correct!

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

That would make sense with what I'm experiencing. I'll play around with the timing a bit, thanks!

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

Does it? I seriously had no idea, but it does seem to make sense with what I'm experiencing. I will firstly try and see if taking it later helps at all, maybe at 10 or 11pm. If not, I did try Tresiba for a little while a couple of months ago and but kept having inexplicable spikes at bedtime...

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

Hi guys, I'm on 2x Levemir and I've been tweaking my doses over the past few weeks with the help of my Libre but I've run into a bit of an issue. Before tweaking, I used to take 16u at 9am and 16u around 8pm. The Libre was showing me a consistent drop of around 3/4mmol overnight, so I decided...

    Levemir split dose basal testing

I used to do the same on my pump. I'm lucky it only starts as soon as I wake (rather than in the middle of the night) so it's quite easy to take a bolus when getting up. I'm personally better on MDI. Tried everything but I couldn't get it to work around exercise as I'm super sensitive to short...

    Levemir split dose basal testing

Thanks. I use Libre so will have a full few of exactly what's going on. I know the general rules about basal testing (I was on a pump years ago) but just wasn't sure if there were any differences if I'm using 2x Levemir in terms of overlap or time it takes to start working properly.

    Levemir split dose basal testing

Normally I tend to take the bolus at 7am and the Levemir with my breakfast at 9am, does that matter?

    Levemir split dose basal testing

Hi all, I'm planning on testing my daytime Levemir dose tomorrow now I've got my nighttime one right. The question I had is, what's the best time to start it? I take my morning dose at 9am (evening at 8pm), but I was thinking that in the first couple of hours there'll be some overlap with my...

    Dangers with lantus

On a serious note, if you're not wanting to split your Levemir dose and don't want to go back onto Lantus I'd suggest you speak to your team about Tresiba, which is an ultra longacting basal (up to 48 hours) which users are saying has a nice, flat profile.

    Donating blood

Not all of them though surely? I can understand kidneys and eyes and stuff, but heart/lungs/brains/etc?

    Donating blood

Has anyone had an answer as to why we're not allowed to donate blood? I once tried as well as I had no idea I wasn't allowed being diabetic, only to be sent away without explanation. I'd be quite curious to know.

levels rising but not eating any carbs

If your A1C was that high, it's not the amount of insulin you take that's making you gain weight, but the fact that your blood sugars are getting back in range. Because you were so high before, your body was burning fat to get its energy due to the lack of insulin. Now it's stopped doing that...

    Unexplained hypos

I've been having the same for the last 2/3 days, but I'm on my period so I attributed it to that. Could it be that?
