    Newly Diagnosed

Your emotional reaction is absolutely normal, and it will pass. The most important thing is to not let it get in the way of getting a handle on your eating and management of your condition. Feeling the feelings doesn't have to paralyse your actions.

    New to all this

Start with the low-hanging fruit. Do you take sugar in tea or coffee? Do you drink soft drinks? Do you have sweets / chocolate / biscuits / cake / granola bars etc.? These are all simple things to change. You also don't mention what your HbA1c is. Some doctors are probably over-keen on...

    Non-steroid option for arthritis pain?

Try the 10% ibuprofen gel - I find it fairly effective. It's available without prescription for about £6 per tube. I think the bonier the part of the body it's applied to the better it works.

    Spiralizing

I'm wondering about spiralizing as a way of making pasta substitutes - I came across the ideal of spiralized turnip recently! So I did a bit of research about spiralizers. I don't want to spend £££ on one, especially as it's new for me and I came across: OXO Good Grips hand-held spiralizer...

    Newly diagnosed

    1) No - neither the meters & strips or the Libre devices. I don't measure my blood glucose but changing my diet has worked to get my Hba1C into the pre-diabetic range. 2) I think so, but there is an online page you can use to check...

    Eye screening

Or they know the pupil in that eye doesn't dilate so they do the best they can. I'm lucky, they get good enough images without the drops.

    Type 2 Adjusting

I would go to the meal. It's one meal in a year, lies have a habit of being found out. When I go out socially I drink alcohol which I don't do on my own at home, and I eat carbs but make it a small helping of them.

    Is my Metformin working

I've never made gravy with flour - I simply deglaze the roasting pan with a little water from the tap, or wine, or water from cooking the veg, or a mix of those.

I know vitamin D supplements are a good idea in winter, had no idea B12 was.

    Hba1c test

I know they asked about T2 & Ramadan, and I know they didn't express concerns about weight gain. I also know it's only a month or so. My point was that ask practised in many households it's not a great way to eat. The OP can fast, but the many Muslims more than make up at iftar, and if that...

Just diagnosed & a little bit overwhelmed!

I would say that brown rice is disgusting, brown pasta bearable especially with a strongly flavoured sauce. I've weighed the portion for years before T2, so I reduced it to 50g dry. How about cauliflower rice? I brought some at first but it's easy and much cheaper to make, as long as you have...

Just diagnosed & a little bit overwhelmed!

The best type of exercise is one you enjoy, that your body can tolerate, that you can keep up. Walking is great as you may be able to do it from your front door and the only thing you might need to buy is a decent pair of shoes. If you have a cycle, try cycling. Swimming is good exercise...

    Hba1c test

Ramadan is once a year for up to 30 days, not every day, and the evening meal after the day's fast can be huge to the extent that some Muslims put weight on during Ramadan. More about gaining weight during Ramadan...

    Hba1c test

You are used to fasting, the OP may well not be. However Ramadan isn't in the middle of summer now. Where I am that would mean fasting from 4:21 to 22:06, so when one can eat is when one is normally asleep.

    Trulicity

Welcome, I'm assuming your diagnosis is fairly recent and being scared, overwhelmed, in a spin are all very normal reactions. I see you give what is probably your HbA1c in another post as 89, and the reply there explains the different units. It's an average of your blood glucose over the past...

    help and Advice

You are used to eating lots of things that will put up your blood glucose, especially the biscuits as they contain sugar which produces a big BG spike. If you just reduce or cut the bread, biscuits, pasta, rice, potatoes, cous-cous and so on of course you are hungry. They need replacing with...
