Here we go, HbA1c test booked for Wednesday, this will be the first since I followed the advice of the members of this forum and cut out carbs. Am I excited? Yes. Am I nervous? Very. Why am I nervous? I don't know but if my average bloods are anything to go by, I should be under 40 -...

    Weight loss.

Kenny, good morning. Ah, that makes sense to me now. I have a telephone consult with the GP tomorrow to discuss progress and to see what steps I can take. This forum has been instrumental in changing my lifestyle and diet, your posts along with @bulkbiker @ianf0ster @Jim Lahey and many others...

    Weight loss.

Thanks for reading as always. Now coming into my fifth week of cutting carbs, my diet consists of above ground vegetables, meat, some dairy and an occasional wine. My treats are ground almond cupcakes or some very dark chocolate. The first two to three weeks saw fairly rapid weight loss, I...

Is it ever to late ?

@EllieM your post scared the life out of me - for all the right reasons. Glad I never had to go insulin, been close but avoided it. Diet is now the key.

Is it ever to late ?

I'm almost in the same boat as you. I've been low carbing and it has been amazing how my body and outlook has changed. I am now not taking any drugs and my control is pretty good. My average over the last 30 days is 6.5mmol/L, in the last seven days, it is 6.0 mmol/L. The last seven days saw me...

    Trulicity - Coming off it.

Morning Ian. As you so rightly say, I was put on Atorvastatin purely because of my risk of heart disease. Thanks (as always) for a full and informative reply, it has settled my mind.

    Trulicity - Coming off it.

I've downloaded MySugr and I read what people are saying about it being optimistic with it's HbA1c estimate. My main app is the Contour Next from Ascencia/Bayer, this is what talks to my meter and imports my readings into MySugr Looking at the last 30 days, my average reading is 6.6mmol/L...

Diagnosed a week ago, where to start.

Hello! Welcome to the forum and I truly hope you get as much out of this as I have. Firstly, from my own findings and with great help from @ianf0ster and others, consider cutting carbs out or down immediately. Why do I say this? I've been T2 for over 18 years, I've had two episodes of cutting...

Morning Blood levels and when to eat.

Thanks for a great reply. I’ve now reached the point where I’d like to be ‘normal’ again and to be well within tolerances. It sticks in my mind that being around 6 is where I my HbA1c will be sub 39 - my goal. Time to get off all meds and go with a diet-lead life. Driving HGV1 ( the bendy...

Morning Blood levels and when to eat.

Jim. Thanks for a comprehensive reply. Unfortunately, the nature of my job and shift system means consistent timing is a problem. My shifts start from 0200-0800 and I work four on, four off. The only thing I can keep constant are meal times, the job gives me flexibility to do that. Your...
