    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Hi @mo53, it’s nice to see new people. And don’t worry plateaus seem to be very normal. Some people use intermittent fasting to kick start it again, or up exercise. One pound lost this week, under 13st for the first time, yay! I’ve just kept going doing the same low carb thing when my weight...

Thank you for such a supportive and lovely comment. It is hard when you’re eating different from everyone around you and sounds as if you’re doing a great job. I don’t think it’s so much that I’ve got good self control just grasping at doing things that make me feel better which helps in mind...

    Fatty Liver and other conditions

Hi @Madisons, I have some insulin resistance, hypothyroid and high cholesterol too. It’s my understanding cholesterol will be high if thyroid not optimally treated - somebody recommended another forum to help understanding of thyroid levels and whether you’re optimally treated yet. Lots of...

Thank you SlimLizzy. They did a great job checking me over for the big nasties and there was a hairy moment a mass on a ct scan turned out to be a brain calcification, not a brain tumour. Been referred to a neurologist. Personally I think I’m just extremely hypothyroid and haven’t been medicated...

Wow ickihun you have so much going on! You’ve done amazing and are an inspiration with other health issues to continue with the fight (where you can and giving body the time it needs when it needs it). I wish you good health and less pain.

Weight the same this week. But I’m ok with that - had a hard week with a day in A+E followed by jumping off the band wagon in a desperate attempt to feel better. Back to it now!

Down one pound to 13st and 1 and a half stone lost now. Low and steady is winning the race. 1 stone and 4 pounds until the top bracket of “normal” bmi so over half way :)

Diagnosed, but not really. So confused.

Hi there, You’re not alone I was exactly the same. First hba1c 48, went low carb, 2 months later 44. I’m expecting my next test to be in the 30s. Not officially diabetic according to the go but absolutely insulin resistant according to my meter. The good news is it didn’t take very long when...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

That’s such a lovely side effect of having a gorgeous new pup! Yes you’re right they’re not supposed to go too far while their bones are growing so will increase nice and slowly for you. Then you’ll be away and addicted when it’s old enough for day long walks :)

    Physiotherapy

Nothing useful to add but physios are great. When doctors haven’t helped (or more likely been on a timer to get you out), physios on more than one occasion have spotted the problem and made the right call/ referral, as well as being really great in helping you develop the specific exercise/...

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

Maybe you mixed me up with another reply? I’m in the 5s mainly now. The hba1c was annoyingly 8 weeks after my first hba1c so if it measures the last 12 weeks will have caught the first month where it wasn’t controlled as well. Fingers crossed anyway, I’m 3 months in and going from the cgm!

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

That is interesting - would love to hear what you learn related to diet and blood sugar. The cgm predicted 5.5 and my last hba1c was 44 but will have caught the 4 weeks of the eatwell plate before I started. I’ve been too timid to start testing how many carbs I can handle in one meal until I...

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

Hi @finsit, when I first started it look longer than 2 hours for blood sugar to come down. I was in the 6/7s before food and it’d be 8/9 for a few hours before returning to the 6s. I was still lowering carbs at about 60g a day at that point. Then as I got used to what I needed to do and came...

    Diabetes/Thyroid connection?

Thanks Coby, I totally agree. Learning from and supporting each other has been such a powerful tool, I e taken a lot of comfort from others such as yourselves. Especially since the answers are usually in science heavy journal articles, like we aren’t stupid and I want to know more than surface...

    Diabetes/Thyroid connection?

Thanks for the link @EllieM at glance it seems some answers to my questions are in there but I can’t quite get through my brain fog at the moment to pick out what I want! Will definitely return to it when I feel better.
