    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

But the problem is, it's physically attached to me, and could get kicked or kneed. Starting off at 10mm when I start training, usually keeps connection to the sensor so I can still see the graph/trend when I grab some water.

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Still getting on reasonably well. It's warming up here (30c now) so my levels are going a bit ping-pong. High, correction, low, eat, high. This usually happens. Installed a new sensor last night. Felt ok going in, then noticed I was bleeding all down my leg - quite a lot! I was sure it was...

    Accu-chek Solo Tubeless Patch Pump

Why on earth haven't they made it waterproof?

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Just had a review at the GP - bloods all good. hb at 8.5 but would have been higher I think with the previous pump and non-cgm testing so I'm happy with that. Bloods again in 3 months and referral for podiatry checkup. Clean bill of health.

    Medical Id Necklaces

Surely the point of a medical alert pendant is that it's very visible? Be proud if your diabetes. Don't hide it. I watched a young girl on YouTube talk about how people point at her pump and whisper. I can honestly say in nearly 30 years of being diabetic that Noone has ever pointed at me...

    Pumps And Mountain Biking

Mountain biker and (new) martial artist. Pump gets disconnected for fighting and reconnected when the session ends. For riding, depending on the level I'm exerting myself, I have three pre-set temp basal rates. High activity at 60% delivery, moderate at 70% and low at 80%. I'm 42 - riding...

    Medtronic Enlite

That's unfortunate you've had so many issues. Is the $600 upgrade the new technology insurance thing? I'm getting all kinds of info. My nurse says only people who bought the pump in Sept/Oct will get an upgrade, but my contact at Medtronic says that I would get an upgrade as my purchase was so...

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Another method.......? Looks like I'd need another plastic inserter tool? I'll see how I get on with the sure T. So far so good. Just woke up and it's still in place, I'm not slowly bleeding to death, and my bsl has been stable over night. [emoji41]

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Ok so I'm not having much faith in the Mio. This evening my levels have gone up and up. Correction bolus x 2 with no effect. So I remove the cannula to see a bit of fresh blood. By the time I've opened a skin cleaning swap there's a big bubble of blood and it's dropping down. ***. I've literally...

    Change Over Of Pumps

The 670g is available in Oz IIRC they're just waiting on the sensors to be approved. This might happen tomorrow, or in 6 months, they can't give an answer unfortunately. (OP's in South Africa though)

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

So I'm a month in now to the the new pump. Overall very happy, and my levels reflect this. Clearly stable sugars has a drastic effect on my mood which I hadn't appreciated and perhaps I was in denial or just "over" my previous system, expecting miracles, but I feel better in many ways with the...

    Medtronic Enlite

Totally agree. Pumps and CGM are expensive, there's no doubt. It's cheaper to inject, test multiple times, and deal with highs and lows as they happen. But, pumps/CGM means for me, I can avoid big highs and head off lows before I even get there. I work in the community, I can't be driving around...

    Security Checks

Have flown all around the world. No problem anywhere with pumps. Just tell them. Disconnect it. Avoid the scanners if you can (but I've been through heaps - full body etc and no problems). Tell them you have a pump and/or CGM. I've just flown Perth to Sydney and back with all manner of supplies...

    Medtronic Enlite

Warranty period is 4 years from date of purchase in Oz - assume the same worldwide. We've got an access program for upgrades from the 640g but so far only the 670g pump has been registered and we're waiting on a compatible sensor which has to be registered separately. I'm not entirely sure how...

    Medtronic Enlite

Medtronic are launching the 670 here as soon as it's got approval and the sensors have been sorted. Big program in place to move people to the newer model as it' closed loop and they posted on their FB page that there will be a 670g "Access Program". Spoke to the rep today and it could take...

    Medtronic Enlite

An enzyme called glucose oxidase - the same that's in test strips, only a fraction of the amount. This converts glucose to hydrogen peroxide. This then reacts with a tiny amount of platinum in the sensors, which then calculates this into a glucose reading from the interstitial fluid. So they...

    Medtronic Enlite

Yup - steep learning curve, but I'm getting there (with great advice from here) The sensor seems to be about 5-6mm but I can see how a bit of rough adjusting of the transmitter could cause it to fail. I'm using Fixomul over both parts - I'm trying to find a decent local supplier of the clear...

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

All sorted. Found a pharmacy close by that has stock of various Medtronic kit so was able to get a couple of boxes of Mio's and some reservoirs. None of the other cannula in stock but they'll have them in tomorrow so I'll give them a whirl. Updates will follow :D

    Medtronic Enlite

So far so good. The sensors are not as accurate as blood sugar testing, but it's great to see the graph showing if your levels are stable, or going high/low. It's also fantastic to visually see how foods affect you. You get 1,2 or 3 arrows which dictate how fast your levels are rising and...

    Pump (and Life) Upgrade

Cheers - looks interesting. Cost wise they're the same for me. Do they come in boxes of 10 like the Mio? Totally understand about infection control etc, but tonnes of medical consumables come in sealed paper/plastic packaging and have things like colour coding so you can tell if the pack has...
