    Running

Much slower Parkrun this morning and no spike. I have had some odd blood tests recently as part of my cancer surveillance. But HbA1c is 35 and I have actually managed to gain a little weight. No, I don't understand it! I have agreed to a slightly earlier scan. Monday!

Fasting Blood Sugar this morning + yesterday's food AND physical activity

Slow Parkrun 24.59. But BG didn't spike. Running slowly could be the answer!

    Marathon

I have a completely different problem with running. Parkrun 5k always puts my BG up. I like to start at less than 5 and usually finish, about 23 minutes later at about 11 to 13. 10k similarly puts my BG up particularly if I am trying hard. Last half marathon I had nothing to eat. Really should...

Fasting Blood Sugar this morning + yesterday's food AND physical activity

A little 5.5 mile slow run with club yesterday morning (9.30 pace). Breakfast treat of croissant, blueberries, mascarpone, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and goji berries. 3 mile dog walk. 35 bike ride. It would have been further but was caught in a mighty downpour! But at least it...

How Long Do I Have To Wait Before I Can Be Put On An Insulin Pump??

Well, I have been completely dismissed! I have never injected myself in a toilet.

Old Age Pension and Activities of Daily Living

I have some really full days! How exciting is this? Checked I had received old age pension. Because this is paid every 4 weeks, I got paid twice in the same calendar month! So, exciting start. 5 mile run with running club. Excellent breakfast of croissant, blueberries, mascarpone and coffee...

How Long Do I Have To Wait Before I Can Be Put On An Insulin Pump??

I did get a referral to endocrinologist for a pump which took just over a year. After 57 years of injections I thought I would be offered one particularly as there is, apparently, some money available for all this locally. I am sorry to say the response was negative. I am too well controlled to...

    Gall bladder

Blood tests repeated. I have some sort of inflammatory response to something-or-other. I quite like a vague GP response! Yet another scan next week.

    No Breakfast Spike This Morning!!

Walking definitely helps! Parkrun for me this morning. Annoyingly if I am trying hard this short distance always spikes my BG. However, I quickly recover. Very slow run this morning as I ran with my wife! She does have a pacemaker. We both sound really old and decrepit.

    No Breakfast Spike This Morning!!

And it sounds like you're doing well.

    No Breakfast Spike This Morning!!

But I keep really well. HbA1c of 35. BMI of 20.5. No retinopathy. No neuropathy. At 66 I am probably much fitter than the majority of my contemporaries.

    No Breakfast Spike This Morning!!

    It's a strange condition! I haven't worked it out after 57 years!

    Blood test results

What a difference a week makes! Far more predictable CGM and finger prick tests. Insulin requirements much reduced. Funny old condition!

    Anniversary

Congratulations. My next anniversary will be 58 years. Hope you live to have at least as many that!

Do you take statins? Do you know why?

I have taken statins for years with no ill effects at all. There's not a lot of creditable research suggesting much in the way of side effects. Statins have become a bit like the MMR jab.

    Blood test results

I must be better. Only had 17 units yesterday.

    Blood test results

GP has just contacted me. Almost certainly a lurking inflammatory something-or-other. Repeat blood test next week. Already feeling better and already needing less insulin. Actually had a hypo yesterday as I have had a week of needing extra. Running tonight!

    Blood test results

Nothing, as yet, apart from treating me for a vitamin D deficiency.

    Blood test results

I fell unwell last week. I needed more insulin all week regardless of other factors. I usually average about 20 units of insulin per day but last week required 27 units daily. It took me a little while to work it out after a couple of spikes. I am wondering if my rather unexpected blood test...
