    Type 1 and metformin?

Well, keep in mind hat Metformin doesn't just turbocharge insulin but affects the body in certain ways to achieve that effect - specifically, it inhibits glucose production in the liver (which is 2-3x in typical t2 diabetics, or up to 250g/day ) which may not be a good idea if you're "not...

    Libre...

Dunno, I had the same issue with the Navigator and they kept telling me everything was fine (until they recalled their test strips for giving false lows) so I'm not expecting much but it can't hurt

Diabetes Protocol claims to cure type2 diabetes

Well, maybe, but where's the incentive for the FDA to falsify/hide evidence? Why should NICE lie when they could save a ton of money that could be spent on building nicer hospitals or whatever whilst also improving patient outcomes? The harm is that people will go mistrust their doctors and...

    Flu Jab.

Yes, that's exactly why you get asked if you allergic to the vaccine when you go to have the vaccine.

    Libre...

Got the same issue, unfortunately, and the libre completely missed a post-meal spike (showing constant 3.7-4.1 when it really was 5.1-7.0) and today I've been getting nothing but LO and sensor errors... I doubt I'll keep using the device since I'm evidently too stupid to use it.

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Received mine today, started it just now. Let's see if the adhesive lasts for the "up to 14 days". Also, I love how cavalier the manual is about replacing the sensor (bleeding? Just use a new sensor - easy to say if you're selling the things for £25 I guess) On an unrelated note, does anyone...

    Question for the experts

Simply put, you need to take more insulin for your food but your nurse seems to think that it's safer for you to have high BG until such a time that you have learned how to properly adjust insulin doses. Whilst that is not entirely unreasonable there's obviously a problem if you can't go on...

    Diabetic dies from untreated hypo?

I'm confused why they were unable to move her out of the back of the ambulance - surely that wouldn't be much harder than, say, getting a patient out of an upper floor of a house, which I really hope they are trained to do...

There is no more need for amputations due to diabetic foot ulcers.

Just remember that trying ozone (or homeopathy, or prayer) first means risking that you may have to have your leg amputated instead of just a toe, but no biggie - alternative treatments can't possibly harm anyone and you didn't really need that leg anyway. Yeah, diabetes sucks but just because...

Type 1 Having actimol ., good or bad for diabetics with type 1

Actimel comes in very small containers, so the nutrient composition doesn't really matter - and no, the bacteria do not magically cure diabetes nor do anything else that would justify taking them. Note that actimel has clashed with the law in the past when it comes to making grande...

Can the urine of a diabetic really be used to make whisky?

The full name if the condition is diabetes *mellitus*, which means "honey-sweet"; this is from the sugar found in the urine (when BG gets too high sugar spills over into urine) and until the invention of modern medicine it was diagnosed by tasting. Yes, really. In principle, any liquid with...

    do you inject?

The rationale is that a small snack will result in a small BG increase which does not require a correction - e.g. If you start at 4.5mmol/ and a snack raises BG by 2mmol/l then you're still below the threshold for correction suggested my the vast majority of people (but many DUK dwellers think...

    "Acute" ??

"Acute" is the opposite of "chronic", so I'd be forced to conclude that he's suffering from gestational diabetes.

    How urgent could this be?

If you go to your GP's surgery and describe symptoms that could be DKA you will get an emergency appointment even if normal waiting times are longer.

No, it is not normal to be tasting blood unless you are a vampire.

    Dr Kenneth Pullman scam?

If any of these miracle cures were true the author would be holding a Nobel prize in medicine instead of selling to the desperate people looking for a cure and least able to judge the merits of this treatment.

    Study: Pumps, Carbs and DAFNE

Well, now we just need to work out how that study is flawed and/or how the researcher was secretly paid off by the high carb food industry.

Swedish study on pumps v MDI

Very curious, and pretty much the exact opposite of what I'd have expected given that, at least in the UK, pumps tend to be given to "difficult cases" and not people who achieve perfect control with MDI.

How highly would you recommend eating low carb?

That's argument for high carb (but low GI) diet, the exact opposite of low carb.
