We live remote, there is only one surgery nearby - but I don't suppose it matters as the NHS seem to all sing from the same hymn sheet. We just keep the doc handy for things that he can fix easily and we don't ask for advice... just come in here or google. LOL!
Hi... my hubby was diagnosed in 2009, has never gone onto meds but is diet controlled and doing great. His bloods are always in the 5-6 range and his eyes, feet, etc have shown no change. He doesn't tell the doc anything.
Well he was diagnosed in 2009, so I think he has done well - but he complains constantly that its hard work.. I think maybe he should back off the one hourly testing and go for two hours, instead of over analysing this. Thanks everybody!
Ok this helps me understand. I'll stop him testing 1 hour after meals and do it only at 2 hours. But the highest he has ever been is 8.
He has been stressed as hell lately, and he has been too tired and poorly to go for walks (he has heart probs and pernicious anaemia).
Thank you.
This last week my husband's been testing in the mid 5s an hour after meals. Then at two hours after, the reading goes up into the low 6s. This is new and he's asking what you think it might be?
He is type 2 diet controlled and eating low carb/mod fat.
Agree absolutely. If it was me then I could come off them and face the doc and tel him why - but when it's somebody else's life then it isn't that easy. I am passing on everything and leaving it to him. I bet that's a scary book to read. Thanks pet x
Thanks Mo xxx My husband has had 3 heart attacks and before that many years of Angina. So as you will appreciate I'm wary of encouraging him to stop taking them. He was on 40mg but got it down to 10mg now and cholestrol is steady - but he really really wants to come off them altogether and we...
I don't think you can have too much vitD, its water soluble and you just go to the loo and get rid of it. That's what I have read anyway. I take high dose vitD and have done for about 5 years now, so does my type 2 hubby.
This is a big worry for us - my husband has had 3 heart attacks and is on statins - has been for years -but wants to come off them. He has managed to reduce the dose from 40mg to 10mg and is now trying one month without any.
