Question to the @Administrator is it worth having a diabetic meetup section so orher members can go to one place to find meetups in their area? I know there is a london one and 2 kent ones going on soon.

Will be attending for the first time cant wait.

Hi @jess77 sorry to hear about your hubbys kevels. Like others have suggested he will need to test his levemir. Might i suggest a 3am test and also a no carb lunch test. This means leaving enoufh hours for the humalog to have finished Best of luck and keep us updated so we can help more

Its a tricky balancing act fats take longer to break down. Fats dont actually increase blood sugar it affects the speed of how carbs can be broken down. Generally with fatty meals I do 1 injection pre meal and one a few hours afterwards otherwise I have hypos.

I have struggled in the past when going to the gym. Not a solution that works for all but I normally go after a meal and take off two units of bolus. I am on a 1:1 ratio.

From my basic understanding fat doesnt necessarily raise your levels. It acts as more of a hindrance as it takes longer for the body to break down the fat and get what it needs. Hence when i havena takeaway my levels can be good when i go to bed but higher in the morning.

That is some effort I cant moan about a two hour travel into london next month then!

Agree i think sometimes the honeymoon period can be tough as you dont feel you are injecting enough or nothing at all. Enjoy doing minimal injections while you can and it will get easier!

Welcome! i hope the op goes ok. My advice would be to attend the diabetic type 2 courses if you can get on them. Also take a look at the carbs and cals books as they help with portion control.
