Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

There are some interesting articles in Guardian about working from home including how for some it is definitely not advantageous. I know when my daughters were young the hour it took me to get home was excellent preparation and down time! Even though the phrase is over used this is an...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

One area I'm not sure of is whether diabetes is a disability? According to diabetes helpline it's a protected characteristic. I do wonder if there is a basis for protection on grounds of discrimination?

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Heartfelt virtual hugs to all of above. There have been so many times when I have wondered if I'm being over cautious to the point of paranoid. I think it's the constant push for life to return to normal balanced with even our ineffective governments advice to mix as little as possible with...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Good morning. I went on Gov.Uk after writing entry and specific advice seems to have changed to a general social distancing, not mixing with others outside your household work from home if you can. Which is fine. Covid safe environment is as reliant on employees as much as employers. Who is...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I think that could be very helpful. As it stands at the moment the advice is still to minimize contact outside immediate household and work from home if can . If cant work must be covid secure. It sounds quite straightforward. Those that are shielding will be bought "down" to vulnerable. The...

Are we reurning to 'normal' too quickly.

School escort would be something I would consider,I have experience,it would be for short bursts of time and oddly enough live about 10 minutes away from council transport. Thankyou once again. I may lie low for a few months but good to start looking.

Are we reurning to 'normal' too quickly.

Thankyou for your reply. I suppose the one advantage of care, certainly the care home i work in ,is that the majority of employees are under 30 and on the whole at lower risk if they get the virus. On the whole they are a very dedicated bunch. They work very hard, some of them 60plus hours a week...

Are we reurning to 'normal' too quickly.

I for one find myself worn down with interpreting advice and reports etc. I was lucky enough to be able to self isolate since mid March as I have savings,a small amount but enough to last nearly a year if careful. I'm 58 . I work in a care home as a support worker. I'm a qualified teacher but...

Are we reurning to 'normal' too quickly.

I think its important to remember those that may be high risk but dont have a choice as have to go to work, maybe in high risk and low paid jobs, often via public transport

help me severe anxiety and panic

Morning Jackie. You are not alone. The world is a scary place at the moment, particularly if you are in a high risk category. I think there are very few people out there who can honestly say they havent had a bit of an emotional meltdown at some stage over the past few months. It always seems to...

Hi sorry for late reply site down last night. Yes it is extremely easy. I was very wary at first but once a week seemed better option and it has worked well.

    Type 1 Shielding for diabetics

I think the range of age/ health etc of diabetics would make it difficult to have a blanket rule. I'm type 2,sugar levels out of range gp wants etc. I'm also closer to 60 and 50 and work in a care home and need to use public transport to get there. A slim well controlled gardener/ window cleaner...

Copy of letter sent out to NHS GPs re Shielding (03/04/20)

Thankyou for this post. I've been so stressed about work. I work in a care home. I havent been there since mid march, since then sadly they have had a lot of deaths although when staff and residents tested last week all tested negative. When I spoke to my GP in April things re diabetics bit of...
