    Stopping weight loss from LCHF

The peppers, onions and tomatoes are likely raising your BS numbers. And if you are using the average iceberg lettuce, you will get no nutrients from that either. Pick a fancy lettuce/green leaf blend, add a bit of avocado, some boiled egg, tuna, ham etc, top it off with olive oil and it dash...

newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes

You need to test at the one hour mark after eating to see if there is a spike, then at the 2 hour mark you should be back to your original number.

We know spikes are bad, but……

You do need to test at one hour after, to catch the spike, and at 2 hours you should be back to your starting number. So test at the beginning of the meal, one hour after, then 2 hours after the first bite.

weird thing happen after eating a cherry pie...ideas?

Eating fat with your carbs does nothing to reduce the effect of the carbs you have eaten. Carbs are still carbs no matter what you eat with them.

What do you eat for lunch? Help

I basically pack an antipasto plate into six small containers and take that with me each day for lunch. Cheese, pickles, ham, boiled eggs, strawberries and cream, salad, a bit of leftover veg from dinner, dip and vegies. I vary it a bit from week to week as there are endless variations. I...

    Denial or just plain stupid?

I have noticed that my feet are smaller, my family didn't believe me. And my hands, none of my rings fit properly. Even my sunglasses don't fit properly anymore. Love LCHF. Going to see my family in another part of the country in a week, they are going to be so surprised to see how great I look.

    Why can't t2 get a meters n test strips?

What are you eating? Are you measuring your carbs? The best way to lower your BS is to lower your carb intake. I eat around 17 carbs per day and my numbers have come right down and are steady. I have no wish to increase medication.

Feeling rough after 11 weeks post diagnosis

LCHF is what the majority of people here follow. Do you know how many carbs you are consuming a day, and fats and protein? Instead of adding a second medication I would be trying everything else to lower your BS first.

    Hba1c going up.

Well you are certainly welcome to work out your own HbA1c yourself, not too hard if you test yourself a few times a day. I am sure the number you get from doing that will be more accurate than the one that the lab will provide you.

    Metformin Side Effects

Metformin doesn't like carbs. As soon as I switched to a Low Carb High Fat diet, all the side effects disappeared.

    Type 2 BG doubled!

Oh Brunneria, you might have helped me a lot. I had my lowest ever reading last week - a 4.3 just before dimner, but that night, after a compliant meal, my BS jumped to 10.1. I couldn't understand how that could be, and I did wonder if the really low low had something to do with it.

Massive increase in blood sugar levels

I would definitely ditch the bread and try some of the other foods suggested here, or go without breakfast, maybe have a coffee or tea with cream. Low Carb High Fat is the way to go.

Help me get through to my mother please

You are an adult - if it takes a blazing row for her to understand you want to LIVE, then I would do it without hesitation. Other than that, I would bring my own food, or shop for supplies to make my own food while you were there. Its only for a few days, so a bit of cold meat and cheese for...

Blood sugar 21.5 down to 10.4 EXERCISE TO LOWER BLOOD

I was making mashed potato for the family the other night, and had a 1/4 teaspoon to taste if there was enough salt in it and I couldn't believe how sweet the spuds tasted. Yuck

    Shell shocked!

Do you have a smart phone - iPhone or something similar, because there are great apps that can help you keep track of your BS numbers, without having to write them down. It's all personal preference of course. I have a Windows phone and use a program called Diabetes Manager.

    Shell shocked!

Apparently I was prediabetic in 2007!!! but was never told then. I was diagnosed in August 2016 after around 6 months of feeling like death. So many years that I could have been doing something to help my health.

    Shell shocked!

I use My Fitness Pal to track my carbs, protein and fats. Unfortunately it will set you a calorie/kilojoule count for the day as well that you can't change, but I just ignore that. Somedays I go over their suggested kilojoules, somedays under. When I go under it always tells me I am not...

How many times a day usually T2 's measure BG (people on insulin as well as tablets)??

I test on waking, and just before bed and if I am trying something new. I can cook my favourite LCHF meals on auto pilot now. I have a good list of vegies, meats, cheeses and snacky things like nuts and just mix and match the ingredients for lunch and dinner.
