    newly diagnosed type 1

Jon. We all get fed up.... But you appear to be well past this. My advice would be to express these thoughts to your GP. It could be that your DM is causing other issues. Being a bit low is common- any further needs the intervention of professionals. They will look at your situation in a none...

Re: 1st week BG numbers and likelihood/benefits of medicatio Yeh... I've been reading about citric acid and how it can help. I'm a merrydown man to be honest.... though the Stella cidre is acceptable. I get their point with the weight and shape. Whilst I'm the usual type 2 " shape" ... That...

1st week BG numbers and likelihood/benefits of medication

Re: 1st week BG numbers and likelihood/benefits of medicatio Halli, that's a very good point. However, my own fear is if I get pushed onto meds- where does it end? I'm not afraid of some of the possible side affects of metformiin ( flatulence) .... as being a bloke with a 16 and 7 year old...

1st week BG numbers and likelihood/benefits of medication

Re: 1st week BG numbers and likelihood/benefits of medicatio Hello sir! Thanks for this. I was reading a paper on exercise v weight (bmi) and it does appear that exercise plays a massive part in reducing bg levels. That in itself is obvious... But not the weight bit. I'm now into a routine of a...

1st week BG numbers and likelihood/benefits of medication

Re: 1st week BG numbers and likelihood/benefits of medicatio Hi, even with my limited knowledge.... The Nos speak for themselves as does the trend. How much exercise are you doing and what type? I'm seeing what 20 mins of anaerobic (resistant ) exercise does, 11/2 hours after dinner. Of...

    Hairy dieters

Many low carb foods are also low calorie. There's the explanation. That said, something tells me that to "burn fat " you had to eat fat. There's the conundrum. I did the Atkins about 10 years ago. I lost a shedload of weight ( which I put on after) but lived on chicken, eggs, fish, meat etc.

Using a blood glucose monitor when its cold

I went through a load of strips last week, due to me leaving my iBGStar in the car. They took an age to warm up, with me resorting to leaving my strip pot open on a radiator for a while. Bloody annoying and will keep them in my pocket from now one.

    Back from the docs....

Well.... I fell off the wagon tonight, about 1/2lb of roast lamb (with rocket, of course), on Two tortillas with chilli chutney! But... It would have been a packet of oat/ ginger biscuit, immersed in a litre of milk.... Blended into a shake... a few weeks back! As I've been bad, I'm having a...

    Back from the docs....

Have a look at the hairy dieters's latest book. It's packed with some excellent low calorie and many low carb meal ideas. Imagine, a full tin of tuna, a big handful of rocket in 1/2 a tortilla for about 250 kcal. That us very healthy and extremely filling! I've used up my original set of strips...

    newly worried

Hi nick, I'm far from an expert in this... But how is your weight? Is it dropping due to a conscious effort on your side? (I've not been diagnosed YET.. though my doc seems to be itching to do so.... My figs are only 5 to 10ish) Could it be that your reduction in carbs ( you'll have read the...

    Oh Well.....

I do appreciate the advice and it does tally with my thoughts. The gym in the guest room has been neglected but won't be from tonight..... I might dust it and check the pulleys! The weight thing is frightening, especially when it's put into context, though some on this initial loss will be...

    Oh Well.....

After showing a 12 hour fast of 5.3 mmoll the other morning- I woke up at 6 am today with a lovely 9.2! As I only had mussels- with a couple of lumps of brown bread ( that might be a clue) my post meal ( 2 hours) was 8.4! I am becoming resigned to the fact that I will be shown to have some...
