Interesting appt: Non diabetic related, but very frustrated

Have you looked online for a half unit pen? Surely somebody somewhere in the world would ship it down under. :shifty:

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Breakfast: a bucket of coffee with whole milk Lunch: simple salad with sour cream and chives dressing, string cheese Dinner: two bits of salmon, oven-baked, with dill, ground pepper, sea salt and lemon, with a mix of peas, carrots and bit of sweetcorn with a bit of rice on the side Snack...

I swear they focus on HBA1C's too much...

My doc has been really helpful and has been keeping eye on my liver test results. They were abnormal for a while (ALT 93) - I guess he hoped that they would improve over time but they didn't, and he sent me to have an ultrasound done on my liver. I have an early stage liver disease, and nothing...

Best tenner I've spent this year.

Thanks, @Guzzler, I will need all the luck I can get! Because she lives with us, I really hope that she catches on with eating right. It will make cooking and mealtimes less complicated and more peaceful. ;) I have been following your story on this forum, @Caeseji, and it's been an inspiration...

Best tenner I've spent this year.

I got this book at The Works for £6, so thank you, @Guzzler, for recommending it. I've read it from cover to cover, it's brilliant! I've handed the book to my mother-in-law because she is a type 2, but her diet consists of toasts, biscuits, cakes, pasties and potatoes (cringe!), so I'm trying...

    Lunches at work

I usually have Tesco's Simple salad with either string cheese or chicken slices. That's less than a fiver for lunch. I just can't be bothered to make it the night before, and so many times I leave the house forgetting to pick up the lunch... :shy:

    Some good news at least!

Congratulations, that is awesome news! :D:D:D Well done, mate! Gives me hope I could do better in the future.

    Side effects of medication

Imodium helps me but it takes a few. I find that the cheaper versions that come in capsule form work faster and better for me. Speaking of side effects, does anyone get really bad cramps in calves at night? I woke up screaming again last night and it is still sore in my leg. :(

    Mood and T2

Maybe it's something in the air today? My blood sugars are normal (5.4) and I feel so exhausted! Had a lunchtime massage after which I felt better for like an hour and half. Back to feeling like a mother of all zombies again.

    Finding sticking to lchf hard

Because I'm the only person that cooks in our house (boyfriend can only manage beans on a toast and pasta bake...), I decided about a week ago that I will just cook low carb meals for everyone. He noticed a few days in and asked - are you putting me on some kind of Atkins diet? What's with all...

    Metformin, is it good?

I've been on Metformin for over half a year now. I'm positive about it, despite the occasional runs (after eating mostly carbs). It has curbed my appetite and helped lose some weight, and therefore also lower my HbA1C.

T2s: What was your fasting BG this morning, and what did you eat yesterday?

Thanks, @midnightrider, I have been lurking in the shadows. :shifty: :wacky: Metformin has helped me get myself together. I do struggle with the 'menu' on a daily basis - what to eat, what not to eat... But the BG is back where it should be, so I'm happy. Had a HbA1C test yesterday, - I'm...

T2s: What was your fasting BG this morning, and what did you eat yesterday?

FBG 6.5 Breakfast: white coffee with 500 mg Metformin Lunch: green salad with sour cream and chives dressing, sweet chili chicken pieces, 500 mg Metformin Snack: another white coffee and a couple squares white chocolate Dinner: stir-fry with vegetables, lots of chicken and a bit of egg noodles...

How quickly do you let the liver shed glucose?

Yep, my liver still does that to me without a fail. I think that's why I cannot stomach a breakfast - I'm never hungry, so I have my morning Metformin, wash it down with a pot of coffee and off I go! Starving by lunchtime though, but that's how long it takes for my blood glucose to come down to...

    Struggling to eat right

I'm not sure about the gravitas of the fact that my bf is a diagnosed Aspie... Not only am I fighting diabetes and liver disease, I'm also fighting his tantrums, likes and dislikes. You are correct, I am not responsible for his choices, but I do want him to lead a healthier lifestyle too. But...

    Struggling to eat right

Honestly, all of the above, not necessarily all at once. I've got a fatty liver and I think that's why I'm almost always tired. I check my blood sugars a few times a day, they're usually normal, sometimes a bit high if I've had a carb-heavy meal.

    Struggling to eat right

Hi, HSSS, thank you for the suggestions. I am a bit limited to what I can cook because my boyfriend is picky (ok, his diet is like, imagine a 3 year old let free to roam in a supermarket - chocolate, cakes, pies, crisps, rubbish and more rubbish...). I do try to educate him but it's definitely...

    Struggling to eat right

I eat **** when I cannot be bothered to cook. Honestly, I admire everyone who eats so well. Most days, I have zero energy after getting home from work to even think about cooking something from scratch...
