    Love Hearts for Hypos???

When I have a hypo I eat a couple of pieces of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar and I find it works quickly. I do use the Dex4 tabs, but much prefer Dairy Milk.

Yes, I'm glad I finally know. I do have a FreeStyle Libre monitor and sensor and I love it. I can keep track of my BG, because it falls so quickly. The hypos are weird. Today I had the same breakfast as I usually do, however, my BG was really low. I do carry the glucotabs and keep some at...

I had posted earlier about my DKA episode back in May. I had an appt with the Specialist yesterday. I was diagnosed T2 in March 2017, but went into DKA in May 2019. I was in hospital for 4.5 days and was very sick according to the nurses/doctors. I knew nothing about DKA. The doctors sent...

    Officially Type 1

I was diagnosed T2 in March 2017, but went into DKA in May 2019. I was in hospital for 4.5 days and was very sick according to the nurses/doctors. I knew nothing about DKA. The doctors sent bloodwork off Island to check the antibodies and whatever else so they could give me a correct...

High 5 to your son for being so helpful and for taking you shopping. I'm glad you got that done and now the wait. I'm still waiting for my results to come in and it's been about 1 1/2 months. Then again, I don't know where they sent them to off Island. Good luck and keep us posted.

Sounds like you have a plan. That's good. I'm sure No 1 son or your daughter-in-law will step up. They know you need this. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

Can you get your blood tests done at the hospital? We have the choice over here to have it done at the hospital (in the lab by the front door) or at the doctor's office, mine at least. Then they courier the blood to the hospital lab every day. I volunteer at my local hospital at the...

Glad to hear he's taking control of his own health. Lots of folks won't/don't do that, to their detriment.

I feel really bad for your brother. I surely do hope he can get the help he needs. We are lacking in doctors, too, and some people have been on the lists for three or four years or more and still no doctor. I was talking with one man this week and he hasn't had a doctor for at least 4 years...

Scary, isn't it when the medical profession doesn't keep up with the times. About the same where I live in Canada.

In my case, I was getting too much insulin, so the doses have been adjusted again this week. As my DE said, it's a process, and I've only been using insulin since May 10. I do believe if I hadn't gone to the ER when I did, it might have been game over because I didn't have a clue what was...

Insulin and Honeymooning: tips for a Newbie

It's a confusing mess for me, too. I was diagnosed T2 in 2017, at 69. I just went on insulin in May, but still not sure if I'm T2 or LADA since my DKA episode in May, with sugars at 23 and high ketones, when I went to ER I'm awaiting the blood work results so the specialists can determine...

"LADA stands for Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of Adulthood. LADA is a form of type 1 diabetes that develops later into adulthood. LADA tends to develop more slowly than type 1 diabetes in childhood and, because LADA can sometimes appear similar to type 2 diabetes, doctors may mistakenly diagnose...

    LADA?

I was diagnosed T2 in March 2017, at age 69. I controlled my sugars by following the LCHF regime, no meds. Then in early May I had a very severe episode of DKA, Diabetic Ketoacidosis and spent 4.5 days in the hospital recovering. I was put on insulin and IV treatment. The specialist told me...

    Misdiagnosed for 4 years

Thanks for the info. Since I was diagnosed T2 in 2017 I always had to fast for before my blood work to test my A1C levels. Since I had the Diabetic Ketoacidosis episode in May, they suspect I am now T1 and I'm on insulin. I have blood work coming up next Wed for the A1C, but wondered if I...

I'm in Canada and I got my CGM two weeks ago. I love it and I do occasionally test with a finger prick, just to make sure it's working properly. I also have to test before driving 'cause I can go low so fast. I had to sit in my car in a parking lot last week right after lunch and wait til it...

They've changed my doses a couple of times, too, in the past week. Still bouncing between highs/lows, though. I see my doctor this Wed. We'll see how that goes. Then the Diabetic Educator in June.

    Newly diagnosed T1 at 36

I went into full-on DKA last week, too, and didn't know what was going on with me. I watched the video you sent me and that was very interesting. Gives me lots of hope. It's only my first week, however, I'm still a bit nervous over how fast my sugars can fall. I just watched another video...

    Misdiagnosed for 4 years

I worked for 2 years on LCHF and lost 55 lbs, and according to the doctor I was doing everything right. That's good to know. Now I need to know what happened. I'm thinking all doctors should be doing the specialty tests before diagnosing which type they think it is. So, onwards and upwards...
