    Review with DN

I only saw her this morning but yes, I am going to come off everything, and I'm going to carry on testing. It's the only sensible thing to do!

    Review with DN

I'm glad I'm not the only one. She said it was an unusual reaction but I said muscle pain IS listed as one of the side effects.

    Review with DN

I was told I was diabetic at the end of Feb and did about 3 weeks LCHF until I saw the DN and was put on 500mg metformin and 80mg gliclazide. This was about 5 weeks ago. Since then I've developed the dreaded metformin tummy and my arms and legs muscles are so painful, it is becoming...

    Is overheating a diabetes thing?

It's no consolation to either of us, but my MIL is 84 and an injecting T2, and she says she still gets the occasional night sweat...

    Is overheating a diabetes thing?

I went through surgical menopause 9 years ago (and it lasted around 5 years!) I thought I had finished with "all that" until I started to get my sugar under control and now I regularly wake up in the grip of a hot flush, totally covered in sweat. I'm just hoping it will settle down soon. The...

How did you know or find out you are type 2

I gave up smoking a year ago, substituted cigs for mint imperials, and then hurt my back and was given naproxen which messed up my stomach. I continued to have "stomach issues" and went to one Dr several times. In December she told me "I don't have a pill which will cure everything" and I went...

That's probably not what you wanted to hear at the moment, but like others have said, something better will come along x

    Big Drop in Ac1

Mine dropped by 59 points after 2 months LCHF (and meds).

    Second set of results

Thank you! I do know it's a really good improvement, it was probably a lot to ask to get under 50 from 129! The next one will be even better...

    Second set of results

I went for my first set of blood tests on Monday since diagnosis. Bloods were originally taken 03/02, but I wasn't given the diagnosis until 21st Feb. My FBG was 13.1 and my HbA1c was 129. Thanks to being able to get results on line, I know that on Monday my FBG was 4.9 and my HbA1c 70, which...

    Contour TS

I have the exemption certificate but my Dr seems to think that 50 tests should last me a month (50 strips / 2 tests a day = 25 days?) I have been testing more often than this anyway. I suppose I could just ask for more and see if it gets rejected.

    Contour TS

My lovely DN gave me a Contour TS meter and 50 strips. Being a pretty new diabetic I have been getting a bit obsessive about testing. I know I need to cut down a bit now. I tried to register on line with the makers, Bayer, but no matter how many times I tried the site did not send me an...

Porridge - good or bad for breakfast

I spent some time in Sainsburys studying the porridge (as you do) and found Mornflake Oatbran to have one of the lowest carb levels. 47.3 per 100g. They recommend a 40g portion @ 18.9g carbs, but I found this was way too much for me to eat, so I only have 25g, @ around 12g carbs. Yesterday I...

    Cheer me up...please!

It was the condescending way she asked which got my back up. She also thinks diet soft drinks should be avoided, but I can't find any evidence to back this up? She loves to talk about what I "shouldn't" eat, (the aforementioned chocolate, cakes, biscuits) but hasn't told me what I should be...

I have an appointment with her on 5th May. If she asks me again if I've eaten any chocolate, I might just thump her :banghead:
