Keeping a freestyle libre sensor attached

I'd still suggest KT tape over the top. But the other thing: I use my libre on the side of my leg now and its out of the way. Accuracy is good, reliability is good, its not approved for use there by Abbot, but I've not had issues with mine.

    Which insulin is "best"?

I had been on lantus for nearly 20 years, and it was one of those because I knew no better I didn't know how well it was working. Similar to you I had heard of Lantus potentially having links to cancer, it was one of the first basal insulins and it worked well for the time it was developed. Now...

Keeping a freestyle libre sensor attached

I use KT tape over the miaomiao and libre. Never had one come off or move or any signal issues; and I exercise everyday and quite intense. (I also use the doubles sided tape to attach the miamiao to libre that it comes with).

    No more test strips prescribed

Yes but you still need confirmatory finger prick glucose testing under certain conditions: i.e Levels below 4.0 mmol/l. If you have symptoms of hypoglycemia If your libre gives readings that aren't consistent with symptoms etc. etc.

    No more test strips prescribed

Just say you need test strips for testing to meet DVLA guidelines. Can't argue with that. Absolute nonsense though, you still need to do the odd check every now and then because even Libre asks you for BS measurements if accuracy is off before they replace it.

Keeping a freestyle libre sensor attached

Yes they will generally replace it for issues such as this. It is a bit of an overkill. But you have got to bare in mind that if it peels away and gives incorrect readings, people can end up in hospital with DKA or severe hypo's so they have to stay on the side of caution.

Keeping a freestyle libre sensor attached

Guess you could wrap something around it to try and hold it. I take it you are using the back of the arm? I used to and always knocked it on places, I've been using it on the side of my legs for quite a while now and it works as good if not better, its out of the way aswell. I know its not...

Keeping a freestyle libre sensor attached

I make sure the area is free of hair, clean with the acohol swab, and apply after it has dried. I then use Kinseology tape over the top of it and that holds it for two weeks. With all the exercise I do, I found it difficult to keep it on without the tape for the full period.

Type 1 MASSIVE bg spike after meals

This can be for many reasons, but I'd suggest a few things: Change insulin pens for new ones - you said you have already done this. Check your basal dosage, this could be incorrect You many be ill even though you don't feel it and this will require more insulin (basal & bolus) No matter how fast...

    Tired 24h after sugar bounce?

If you have low blood sugars throughout the night it can lead to a hangover effect, waking up with headache etc. However even on bad days I'm usually ok a couple of hours after at most. So an evening workout shouldn't really be affected. Unless you had a wrestles night due to the low blood...

    **Night shifts**Type 1 and tresiba

Don't skip a day, although it is proclaimed to last 48 hours it won't. I would reduce your basal dosage. Also make sure you don't have fast acting on board from insulin near bedtime that is causing the lows.

    Scar tissue build up?

They should do, guess they are cutting corners there. Mine always asks and even inspects them every now and then.

    Scar tissue build up?

Lipohypertrophy is well known to cause erratic insulin absorption and unpredictability. It is most likely the cause of the insulin absorption issues. Just remember to keep rotating!

A1c high but blood glucose low

It stores the last 8 hours data, so as long as you scan at least every 8 hours you will have all the data. Buy a libre sensor and use your phone to scan, don't even need a reader tbh.

A1c high but blood glucose low

But when you say you don't see spikes of higher than 7; a hba1c of 46 means you have an average glucose level of ~7.5 mmol/L. So at some point it must be much higher than that to balance out the lower readings you also have. It may be you are running higher overnight and not knowing?

A1c high but blood glucose low

Unless you have a cgm, you will never know accurately what you BS levels are doing. If you test at 2 hours you may have missed the peak or alternatively may not have reached it. That's the drawback of point measurements from meter.

    Encapsulated beta cells

What are your guys thoughts on this? and when do you think if ever that this would be available? https://www.globaltrademag.com/first-of-its-kind-bio-artificial-pancreas-on-track-for-type-i-diabetes-cure/ Seems like good progress.

    Catabolic muscle with high sugars?

The training lab on the website is meant to be good but you have to pay for it (I've never used it). But tbh theres enough information and people on the group to discuss with that I never needed to. Also don't underestimate this website and the info available on here to control diabetes as best...

    Catabolic muscle with high sugars?

Yes the YT channel doesn't have much. If you join the facebook group loads of people in there to help.

    Catabolic muscle with high sugars?

You can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, but don't expect the results to be massive, comparing to if you were doing either as a standalone goal. Generally anything over 7.7 mmol leads to muscle breakdown, not sure on timings but I would assume the higher it is the quicker this would...
