    Pumps and CGM - accuracy

I have a Dexcom CGM and Accu-Chek Combo pump. They work really well together. The Dexcom CGM reading is +/- 20% plus/minus the 10 minute interstitial lag. My BM (In extreme cases) can fall or rise by 1 mmol/L per five minutes or 0.2 mmol/L per minute. So if my CGM reads say 7 mmol/L my...

    Maybe coming off pump

I have tried REALLY hard to get funding for the CGM sensors but no joy. I was hopeful as I managed to get my GlucoJoice on prescription (It is a much nicer way to bring you BM up rapidly than the GlucoGel which is like eating frog spawn!). My argument was that the Glucojuice is 15g CHO which...

    Solo micro pump Roche

My DSN tells me that it will take either preloaded cartridges (Brilliant, no bubbles) or self loading spirit levels as at present. The bad news (For me) is that she tells me the preloaded carts will be NovoRapid only – I use Apidra.

    Maybe coming off pump

This is interesting but may not apply to me as the CGM means that my BM does not get too high as I get the early warning and can correct. My hypos are down to one every two months or so for the same reason – When my bloods fall to 5 mmol/L the CGM beeps and I have some carbs. It is just that...

    Maybe coming off pump

I get on OK with the Rapid-D’s – They usually stay put, but I will get a box of FlexLinks and an inserter & see what happens – If no joy I will try the TenderLinks - Thanks for the advice! I did not mention earlier, but the insulin not working problem sometimes reverses and it works TOO WELL...

    Maybe coming off pump

Yep. I check them at least monthly and occasionally tweak them a little. My basal rates seem to be quite stable when things are working properly. The insulin not working thing can last from a few hours to four days. If it is going to be a long one, changing the cannula/set/insulin makes no...

    Maybe coming off pump

I have skinny arms so all that is left is abdomen – When I changed from MDI last year I was using 6mm needles so started with 6mm cannula. I have tried 6, 8 & 10mm Rapid-D Link steel cannula inserted in as many places in my abdomen as I can reach. I was wondering about the FlexLink cannula but...

    Maybe coming off pump

I can’t go back to MDI – my main sites are just about destroyed due to jabbing in both thighs for nearly 40 years – I was running at several hypos/day plus ridiculous highs. The pump has been a great improvement, but this insulin not working thing is a pain – It happens every week to ten days...

    One of those days

I have a similar problem – When you pump in the extra insulin does it ever ‘catch up’ with you? It sometimes does with me – I eat carbs, bolus say 10 units as normal & nothing happens - bloods go sky high & I end up pumping another ten units over the next few hours to try & bring things back on...

    Maybe coming off pump

I wanted an Omnipod but here in Cornwall the choice was between the Accu-Chek Combo and the Animas – I chose the Combo because of the remote control. Does your DSN acknowledge the ‘insulin not working some of the time’ problem? Have they made any suggestions? I wonder how many pumpers have...

    Maybe coming off pump

Hi. I am a newbie & this is my first post. I have been having a few problems with poor insulin absorption and looking through the forum it seems I am not alone with this problem! I would really appreciate some pointers about what to try next…… I have been on MDI since 1974. Over the last...
