Why I think all diabetics should have a CGM

I can only speak about the Libre from experience as I've never worn a CGM so far (mostly due to the costs). The Libre is not cheap I have to admit but well worth every penny for me:). I don't think I would've been able to sort my BS as well as I have in the last few months. To be fair I have...

    Any time, no problem:)

    If I have a choice...

Yes you could. I am wearing the Omnipod since July last year and I actually mainly wear it on my arms. It's easier to have it in some rather "wobbly" part of your body (of which I have enough lol). I was wearing a lacy black dress for my hubby's work Xmas party last year and you were able to see...

Do you ever think how your life would have turned out if you didnt have type 1 diabetes

Good luck. Keep me posted how you're getting on. I'm waiting for my consultant to come back from holiday so she can finally send the stupid report. Hopefully the MSA will get going quickly then as I have my first rally on 7th March;)

Do you ever think how your life would have turned out if you didnt have type 1 diabetes

It still is to be perfectly honest. I only applied for a Non-Race National B to be able to navigate rallies. And thought as I'm not the one behind the wheel it should be easier than getting a license to race/rally myself. But the MSA told me it's the same rules for drivers as it is for...

Do you ever think how your life would have turned out if you didnt have type 1 diabetes

Nothing in my life would've been different without diabetes. Apart from the injections, finger pricking and now being attached to my pump. Other than that I'm confident it would have been exactly the same. I'm glad as a previous poster said I was diagnosed when I was 2 so don't know it any...

The NHS - Is it that bad?

I hope your granddaughter and dad are feeling better again Robinredbreast! When I came to this country 7 years ago I thought the NHS was fantastic. It is in fact depending on where you live in the UK unfortunately not. I am from up North, Cumbria, and we have a battle on our hands currently to...

    Pumps reducing daily insulin dose?

I have started on a pump last summer and am now on slightly less than 50% of total daily insulin than I was before on MDI. Whereas now I sometimes have only 24.50u total daily (basal+bolus) I was on 40u basal daily before and all my bolus came on top on it. So I do need loads less:)

    Secret cure apparently!

Yep I saw the report about the T cells as well. Maybe a step in the right direction to eventually find a cure:)

    Secret cure apparently!

I've seen a post on facebook recently where someone said pregnancy can cure any type of diabetes in women.Yeah righto_O. Maybe if it's gestational. It was impossible to convince this person that his "cure" doesn't work for all types of diabetes;). We left him to it...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Second what tim2000s says in his review. Overall a very positive experience and I am "hooked". It makes diabetes management easier and better and I think it's a genius little machine:)

    Type 1: Prescription fine

I have actually never been asked in all those years I am living in the UK already. But as someone with diabetic stuff and thyroid tablets on my prescriptions I think it was clear that I am exempt. I sort of knew that you could get some card or whatever from somewhere to prove that I am exempt...

    wireless pumps

I'm on the Omnipod too. Just got it in July last year after my diabetes team offered me pumps for a while which I didn't want (as I didn't want one with tubing). I was lucky that they were happy to get the Omnipod for me even though I am the first patient on it at my hospital. I think whether or...

How many of you actually carry your monitors around with you?

Yes I did it beforehand as well when I was on MDI. What I primarily meant was that I carry it round (on pump or MDI) just for the fact that I might want to eat something so I do need to test. If I am out and then don't eat, well fair enough. But I could have because I had my meter with me. And...

How many of you actually carry your monitors around with you?

No, I do the same. If I have a hypo feeling I treat quickly and then check. After 35 years I know when I'm hypo or not;). And yes, I think compared to 30 years ago when meters were big and heavy like bricks and needed to be plugged into the socket in the wall I think nowadays all these meters...

How many of you actually carry your monitors around with you?

Not a lot to be fair. But I like to be able to if I let's say go into town and decide I'd like to eat a sausage roll from Greggs (not that I do that ever anyway) Id' like to be able to do it. And in my case with the omnipod my meter operates my pump as well so I rather take it everywhere :)

I have it with me literally ALL the time. :)

Normal HbA1c Levels - What should we be aiming for?

Same here. I was surprised when I went to a different hospital in summer for a non-diabetic related issue and the consultant there said my Hba1C of 6 was the best one she had seen in years. I aim for 6 and high 5s usually..

    Type 1: Prescription fine

I mentioned it at my pharmacy yesterday when collecting insulin and she wasn't aware of people being fined but said that it is not her task to remind people to have a valid exemption. Hope mine comes through very soon!!!!
