    Diagnosed as type 1

There's no need to think you can't live a normal life, except that when taking insulin you must 'always' organise your life around the necessity to eat at regular times. I've been taking insulin for almost 60 years, since I was 22. Until I retired 2 years ago, I never worked less than 70 hours...

Ever just want to give up??

Hi Daniel - I've been taking insulin since I was 22 (almost 60 years) and believe me it's nothing more than a damned nuisance, because you have to organise your life so that you can eat at the right time. Apart from that there's nothing you can't do, so please don't think of it as anything more.

It's not a cure but it sounds very exciting

I've just heard of a research project, that sounds very exciting to me. A dissappointing update

    A dissappointing update

I've been at it for 58 years Zand and I just keep to a regular diet. Normally I have no problems and you may not have seen the details of my experiment. My original thread was deleted by the powers that be and without that, this thread won't be much use to you. I can easily put things right but...

    A dissappointing update

FINALLY GOOD NEWS FOR ALL DIABETICS - This update is for anyone who took a copy of my original post. It doesn't seem to be working guys and this morning with a 7 day average of 10.00mm now showing on my meter, I've decided to raise my Novomix 30 back up to 22 units. Here's a copy of the...

    Longest living Insulin dependent diabetic

Thanks. I asked Diabetes UK when I logged up 50 years and they said 'they knew of 172 in the UK'. I asked them recently how many of them were still living, but the answer was 'they don't keep records'!

    Longest living Insulin dependent diabetic

Hi - I'm new around here and found this while trying to establish how many have survived on insulin for more than the 58 years I've just logged up. Does anyone know how I can obtain the information I'm looking for?
