What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.2 glucose levels still much higher than normal before and after meals. Doc appointment tomorrow, think there’s a kidney infection happening…

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

A surprising, in a good way, 5.8 the last few days have been rough, not feeling well. My after meal glucose levels have been high….and I don’t know why. Carbs are very low, maybe my pancreas is just shutting down or maybe I have an infection? I promised hubby that I’d call the doc tomorrow if...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

A rather disappointing 6.5 this morning. Something very strange happened last night. Two hours after eating a super low carb supper (only carbs were a very tiny, four bites, garden tomato and five small fresh cherries) my blood glucose measured 9.3 (yes, I checked it twice…). This NEVER...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.8 this morning. I’ve hurt my back, my own fault, and I’m suffering..ouch. No gym yesterday, today and likely tomorrow. I did manage my 10,000 steps yesterday though so that’ll do. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend! It’s a hot one here and only getting hotter into the coming week…blah

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

That’s what I was hoping for….but not really sure I have any stored sugars (ok, I honestly know everyone does…). I’m very tiny, at five foot seven and 115 pounds soaking wet. I have eaten low carb for years, zero sugar for the past two years. totally disappointed with this mornings...

BG levels on a carnivore diet

Super interesting conversation! here’s my update. my initial diagnosis back in October of 2022, was because I had A1C of 6.5. I attributed it to the tamoxifen I was taking for breast cancer…it is a side effect. I doubled down on the low carb, ditched the tamoxifen, and for six months my diet...

    What would you do?

I say no. I am a lean mass hyper responder and have high LDL, low triglycerides and high HDL. My doctor tried just a few days ago to have me take them, I politely said no. do your due diligence and research statins. Check out the newest research. We need cholesterol to live live….

Raised Hba1c on low carb diet

I understand exactly what you are saying! I’m heartbroken that after three months of eating under five grams of carbs a day my A1C went from 6.0 to 6.3. I am beyond frustrated! My LDL also went sky high, high enough for my doc to text me with her concerns. So, that didn’t work. I’m adding a...

    I'm lost.

First a huge congratulations to you for quitting smoking! That is an amazing task and you really need to celebrate that. From your post I can tell you are ready and you know what to do…so…no more excuse, just do it. Honestly if you can quit he highly addictive smoking you are a darn superhero...

Should all diabetics have a GADA test at first diagnosis

Matt…first I’ll try to regenerate those pesky beta cells! Resting my pancreas was a factor for sure. Carnivore was my choice, although doc does know I eat very low carb…she just doesn’t know the extreme. I’d rather not do insulin until I have to although the thought of eating somewhat normally...

    Carnivore Corner

I’ve been carnivore for about two months now after a good two years of low carb (zero sugar). I certainly don’t spike at all but still would love to see lower glucose numbers. just curious, to the other carnivores, what are your levels like? my morning numbers are anywhere from 5.2 to...

Should all diabetics have a GADA test at first diagnosis

Thanks Matt…that’s exactly what I was looking at. I did have a requisition for the GADa test with lifelabs but they told me they had no idea what it was. I’m now armed with the required info for “next time”. my pancreas is damaged from a previous serious attack of pancreatitis so that could...

Should all diabetics have a GADA test at first diagnosis

I am the skinny “type 2”. Even eating a carnivore diet I still struggle with glucose higher than I think it should be (last A1C was 6.0%). It’s incredibly frustrating. I also walk at least 10,000 steps daily, weight lift and do yoga. I would LOVe to get the GADA test but in Canada it’s not...

    Breakfast ideas?

I have a wheat and gluten allergy, no fun at all. BUT…I’m not vegetarian in any way, shape, or form. I won’t tell you what I eat but I have heard that lupin based products are a good replacement for oatmeal. I believe they’re called Lupini flakes…try Amazon. Very low carb. Maybe lupin flour...

    Hot weather

For me, yes. I am a very active person …(it never lowers my glucose) but when we walk in the heat (I’m talking 30 degrees) my sugars get their highest. I test every night after our walk (two hours after meal) and the hot days are significantly higher. Since I eat carnivore there are zero...
