I was diagnosed as type 2 six months ago, and have reduced my average from 83 to 49 with lowish carb. diet, exercise & 2 x 500 daily Metformin. I have just invested in a freestyle libre pack which gives constant monitoring, and have discovered that I have quite high spikes after some meals...

I got mine last month. Results for the first couple of days seemed erratic & then it settled down. However, the readings are sometimes significantly lower than a blood test on my old meter. Interested to hear if anyone else has found this. Otherwise, fascinating to look at the computer reports.

All advice gratefully received - very new to this as only diagnosed last month.. Shopping takes ages as I read all the labels.

when counting carbs, is it just the starchy ones, or carbs from veg etc as well?

I'm recently diagnosed, and want to do some testing to check my reaction to various foods and hence adapt my diet. My doctor says testing is only for type 1 patients and not for me. Do others manage to get these prescriptions - and for the lancets?
