    Ps can Hi, for @AnnJohnston, my ratio also alters throughout the day, so you may experience highs/lows until you get the correct ratio for you. For e.g. breakfast I am 1 unit to 15g carbs, lunch is 1 unit to 20g carbs and teatime is back to 1 unit to 15g carbs.

    Hi Ann, if you don't already have it buy yourself a book called carbs & cals, it's my bible for carbohydrates. At my clinic they also gave out basic carb counting information sheets, your new consultant might have some for you. Best of luck.

    I do this to Amy, a chocolate biscuit with my lunch or tea which keeps me a happy bunny but don't snack throughout the day.

    Hi, I know of one youngish diabetic who manipulates her insulin & she works in a doctor's surgery. She lives in Scotland but it is the 2 practice nurses who have tried to help her over the years. So sad & certainly needs addressed by professionals. Best of luck.

    Thanks Robert72 - I think I should be OK, relatively speaking the most protein I would eat would be a chicken breast in a meal. I don't eat much red meat and don't low carb.
