New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Thanks hopeful34. The hot dog rolls were quite large and the stall holder told me 42.4 carbs but not sure if correct. After 2 corrections got it back to normal by teatime. Its so strange if I have a salad or crackers or soup at lunchtime I'm fine (similar carbs) bread products at teatime I'm...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

That's a good suggestion but novorapid takes a while to kick in. At the drive in movies today for 'Elf'. Wee hot dog lunch, see what happens in a couple of hours x

    Pods Aren't Working

Sorry if you have already tried this but I go to RAH in Paisley & could phone the general clinic to get some guidance. If your ketone stay very low you might have to go with it for now. Apologies that I can't be much more help x

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Hiya, I was told with novorapid by the specialist pump nurse to make changes 2 hours before I wanted it to take affect. In line with your suggestion that's exactly what I've done but 2 hours rather than one hour. I'm aged 52 and wonder if the menopause also is affecting some BG levels. X

    Pods Aren't Working

OK doke, I know how frustrating it is. Try and call your diabetic clinic tomorrow rather than waiting on Sharon B returning to work. Hopefully there must be more another specialist diabetic nurse you can talk to. I nearly threw my pump out the window the first few months as felt it was all too...

    Pods Aren't Working

Hi Stew, am I right in thinking your very recent to the pod? Is the cannula definitely going in correctly? Could it be coming loose (not as deep in to your skin)? Is the pod on same area of your body or different area? I have a slightly plump tummy & only get decent results from pod when I put...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

It's a bummer, as I do love a sandwich. Had a smallish baked pot at lunch @ the golf club. I know them well so asked if they would weigh potato b4 cooking. Bolused 20 mins b4 eating and had a 2 hr later spike of 11.8 I'll be darned if I don't get to the bottom of it. Might try 30 minute prebolus...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Hi, you know you can snack but take insulin? I'm not sure if it's just as meals as I don't snack. Merry Christmas I'll let you know how the tweaks go but my husband is taking me out for lunch today so maybe won't know until over the next few days.

Pregnant and bs spiking after every meal

It's a long time since was pregnant but do remember the first trimester, maybe around 6 weeks blood sugars plummeted so kept having to reduce insulin. I think I was told it was linked to the placenta forming. After the first trimester insulin needs steadily increased until my babies births. You...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

@KC49 the only thing I now experience is having bread at lunchtime gives me a food spike of 12-13+. Tried all different prebolus timings, types of bread, extended bolus and nothing works. Just upped my basal for one hour to try & see if it helps!

    Christmas Struggles - TEMPTATIONS EVERYWHERE

If you're really wanting to stay on the straight & narrow tightrope...... why not treat yourself to a few chocs/treats with a meal and with carb counting take a bigger bolus. Kind of works for me but oh to have one day to eat exactly what you want, when you want!

Type 1.5 COVID and Fluctuating Glucose Levels

Initially for most accurate results testing was between 5-8 days of initial contact. I tested day 5 after my husband was sent home from work to self isolated & I developed classic symptoms. He did not develop any symptoms until day 11, his covid test was negative. Long story short he was...

Type 1.5 COVID and Fluctuating Glucose Levels

Hi, yep could be covid connected. I experienced the expected highs but also unexpected lows. Treat as you normally do for being ill. Hope you feel better soon.

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Hi, it may well be an issue with the canulla as you are doing everything within your power to try & resolve it. You are correct that the minimum extended bolus is 30 mins. Hope you get some answers with your diabetic team tomorrow

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Hiya, by prebolusing your just taking your insulin 15-30 mins before eating, this reduces the food spike 2 hours later. I was told by my specialist nurse to try extend bolus by 60% instant delivery and 40% over an hour, which did help. She also mentioned a lot of people do this if eating a meal...
