Yellowing of skin around eyes and mouth

Highly unlikely, jaundice is normally associated with liver or pancreas, both incidentally control glucose metabolism but jaundice is not normally associated with diabetes. Unusual that's its under eyes too, keep an eye around belly button and flank for changes too.

doctor want's me marked as in remission

Unfortunately, NICE guidelines dictate that GP intervention begins above hba1c 41. I had this very conversation today with my doctor. When I mentioned that I have diabetic fasting levels most mornings she said they don't even acknowledge fasting any more other than to justify doing an hba1c.

    Proactive GP

Quick update, all blood results in except H Pylori and GAD which apparently take a little longer. So far, all within normal parameters. Hba1c down from 38 to 34 (5.6 - 5.3), so mySugr was spot on in its estimation. Still waiting to hear from hospital for endoscopy and scans.

All the major brands do a low sugar version that you may get away with in small quantities. I find the Tesco low sugar ketchup reasonably decent and I can get away with a spoonful.

Want to find out if I have diabetes. How do I go about doing this?

Yes you can in moderation, dark chocolate, berries and cream. Theres plenty of sweet stuff that is not full of sugar and carbs. It's predominantly just a learning curve, finding new foods to replace the bad ones. Diabetes is not a death sentence unless you allow it to be. The majority, with...

    Some advice needed

Hi, it's a little high, but not tragic... They say that levels above 7.8 is where inflammation occurs so they should be kept to a minimum and for as short a time as possible. They also say ideally tailor your meals to give a jump of no more than 2.0 to keep numbers nice and stable. As...

    Prediabetes Cals not carbs

I started having it in the mornings and sometimes another small one after my evening meal. I hardly budge from it, 0.5 increase at most. It's made no difference to fasting, 5.9 this morning. I seem to wake up at the same level I went to bed at every day. It's like my metabolism stops when I...
