    Breakfast

That depends on the insulin regime, for someone on basal/bolus this is easily done but most Type 2's are started on a mixed insulin which isn't flexible in the way you describe

    Newbie and confused!

Are you testing your BG? If you can afford to self fund then it's well worth investing in it as then you can find what you can eat Generally you'd be looking at cutting down your carbohydrate intake so things like bread, pasta, potatoes, cakes etc would be better limited especially if you...

    Food delivery.

Sorry but I don't see the issue, they supply cupboard staples generally so surely you should have expected pasta etc, lower carb alternatives are generally more expensive too so they supply cheaper things that are more affordable, I'm skint but buy my own things in no matter what due to also...

    Quick question

Like @TashT1 most people's varies throughout the year etc and especially when newly diagnosed, I was started on 8U of my basal (Tresiba) but was sleeping through hypo's on that so I had to reduce it to only 1U for almost 2 years, currently I'm on 29U, over Christmas and New Year it was lower but...

    Quick question

@Carl40 I'm afraid there isn't an answer to your question, we are all individual and therefore all require different amounts of insulin so there isn't a max dose, you need what you need and that's it xx

    OneTouch Verio test strips

If your having issues via the phone why don't you instead try emailing them? But if it isn't a direct problem there then they wouldn't be much help anyway xx

    Quick question

Always wash before testing where possible with warm water and dry properly, you can heat them either under your armpit or between your legs, hold your hand down towards the ground for a while before pricking to encourage the blood to flow to the tips of the fingers, all very handy tips! Also...

    Quick question

Insulin doesn't make you starving, I've been using it for over 4 years and I only feel starving when the weather turns cold, if the OP gets a Type 1 diagnosis ketone testing is essential while they don't generally prescribe a means of testing ketones to Type 2's as they still produce their own...

    Quick question

May I ask why you have no method to test ketones? This is extremely dangerous to have no way of checking them xx

    Freestyle Libre 2 accuracy

Do you need a bubble or miaomiao to use Glimp? Also does it do UK mmol as the images suggest US mg measurements, sorry for all the questions! xx

Type 2 Can’t stop eating sweet stuff

That's twice in one thread I've read "I didn't want to lose my eyesight", while yes that's all well and good it is rather upsetting like giving up sugar is a miracle cure to not developing eye problems, this isn't the case! I've had h**l with my eyes from less than a month into my Type 1 journey...

    Freestyle Libre 2 accuracy

Can you use this alongside still using the official Libre app

    Freestyle Libre 2 accuracy

If reported it would need to have been showing consistent inaccuracy for a minimum of 24 hours, they ask for at least 3 comparisons to a finger prick and the scan to have been done 15 minutes after the finger prick, I'd leave it until later on tomorrow before coming to a decision personally xx

I'm negative, my duaghter is positive and we live in same house

Stay put, you aren't allowed to just book yourself into a hotel room, you've been in contact with a positive case, you need to isolate, your worried for you but think of the many others you could be putting at risk by leaving the house

    Dry mouth

Do you have a way to check your BG? Its all symptoms of high levels and hba1c's can be misleading as if you spend most of the time in acceptable range it can still come back as "ok", many find caffeine spiked their BG and a glass of milk would for most too xx

    Just a moan

Thanks, really appreciate the thought! Not so great unfortunately, my control isn't good with what's going on and my BG rises everyday as soon as my grandad walks in the door, tried telling my mum today to which she replied what a heap of **** and there's nae need to get wound up when he comes...

    NHS Tayside

@Ushthetaff yes while the Libre 1 is a great piece of kit I'd be less likely to ignore being low if an alarm was going off, my OCD is a massive struggle at the moment due to Covid and uncaring people around so it is consuming a lot of my time and I am ignoring lows to try and clean up behind...

Can I cover the Freestyle Libre?

When I was first prescribed mine I was climbing in and out of a dog cage numerous times a day and was worried I'd knock it off trying to get in the door, I did try without last year in the summer and while one stayed put the next I woke to find lying in bed beside me lol, it had been an...
