Not taking holidays linked with greater risk of metabolic syndrome

Wonder if the NHS would put a nice Mediterranean holiday on prescription for me....

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.2 this morning, but according to Libre it seems I sleep through a hypo at 3am it took about an hour and half for my liver to kick out some glucose.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I have both an iPad and iPhone, and both show MC as his screenshot showed, ‘type 2 well known member’, so it’s not an iOS issue.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I think @Muddy Cyclist must have a naughty twin. MC manages his diabetes well with diet and exercise and advice from this site, MCTwin is now insulin dependent after following the advice on ‘the other site’. Maybe @Debandez could use it in her presentation.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

This morning I was 5.7. Easy day today, gonna try getting up to the pharmacy to stock up on libre sensors before the awful rain today. And I’ve decided not to go out this evening as I don’t do getting wet.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@johnpol I do enjoy hearing your morning accounts with your metre of doom. You have quite a writing style, please survive the trip to ikea and do not kill yourself with a straw!

Freestyle Libre and protection of sensor

I use a clear waterproof dressing cover over mine. I’m not sure how required it is, but I do feel safer knowing it’s covered and protected.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@Debandez or use your libre sometime between now and your presentation, have a good week of low carbs, then have 3 slices of toast for breakfast or something, show the comparison between daily graphs for the next couple of days at just how much it affected your glucose levels and for how long...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@jjraak thanks for that. I’ve got my libre so I can monitor my sugar levels very closely. I appreciate the idea of making a thread for advice, but don’t want to fall foul of the forum rules re giving dosing advice for medication. I have found some medical guidelines for insulin doses on VLCD...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.8 this morning. I decided to take the plunge on the TFR VLCD, I will be starting tomorrow if it all arrives today. I know it’s gonna be 8 weeks of hell, only drinking shakes, being hungry, and probably down right miserable. But if it gets me off insulin then it’s better than 50 years of health...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@Debandez I opened a can of worms, finding out how people could add animates smilies/emojis to their posts. This is my post in the thread about it. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-was-your-fasting-blood-glucose-full-on-chat.163627/page-350#post-2111294 Choose a smilie by clicking...

    The LibreLink Lie

I answered the question and then read your posts, as I use my iPhone 8 and have no problems I may not be the opinion your looking for as the post itself mentions android.

NHS England seeking community views for new type 2 diabetes website

I guess they don’t really want people completing the survey. I don’t have a desktop or laptop, and the survey won’t work on phone or iPad.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.3 at 7am this morning, went back to sleep while libre shows a little mountain but I was 5.2 when I finally woke up at half 10. I’ve been looking at the TFR low cal diet, the LCHF has helped me get my numbers into a pretty good range, but I’ve not been able to reduce my insulin at all, in fact...

    Miaomiao Transmitter

@Mel dCP could I ask is there an alternative to spike for iPhone? I have hear there’s issues having to reload it each week, and you have to use a computer, which I don’t have. I’d love to go down the MiaoMiao route, but if I can’t get the app then there’s little point.

    Type 1 Freestyle libre

I use a waterproof clear dressing cover to keep mine stuck on and dry. This is mine, I have 2 days left on the sensor so it’s pealing slightly, but if your in water for 6 hrs+ a day you might need to reapply them more frequently.

    Blood moniter needed??

Why do you need a new monitor, if your one broke sometimes calling the company, explaining your trying to find out how & where you can obtain a same make/model meter as you still have the test strips, can be useful.

Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs @dunelm . My morning was a 5.8 which I’m happy with.

    Benacol yogurt drinks.

TBH I don’t have a clue, but how they’ve been pushing statins for ages and the fact that it goes up at first on LCHF I’m not sure I really wanna know. LOL I could check back on my previous tests with my online records, I don’t understand the numbers anyway I’d have to post them here so someone...

    Benacol yogurt drinks.

I don’t think 4g of carbs could have sent me up so much higher than my normal post breakfast levels. I think I was nervous, and rushing about this morning before starting a volunteer job, my first work of any kind for over 8 years, awake early and my liver decided to kick start my day. As to...
