Mum not listening about holiday and diabeties

May not be the ideal solution, but as it’s soo soon you don’t have a period long enough to prove your diabetes management, could you come to an agreement with her that you manage it together while on holiday. She keeps your insulin, you test your sugar levels, then agree an insulin dose, after...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

    Prediabetes- readings

If your restricted to 4 strips I’d vary what time you test each day. Use 1 to test as soon as you wake up, or before bed each day. Then use 3 to do before, 2 hours, and 3 hours after a meal. Maybe dinner while working so there’s no testing at work, and breakfast or lunch at the weekend

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Well it seems to have gotten over its spat this morning and is now behaving it’s self.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Well I woke to the nurse giving me my 7am meds this morning and she asked my blood sugar Libre flashes red with 3.2 then refused to take another reading. I slurred to ask for sugary milky tea, was struggling to keep my eyes open. Once the nurse had rushed off to make the drink I woke up and...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Well I didn’t skip lunch, at 1pm my Libre gave me a 5.5 so asked for cheese salad, which they don’t do, so had 2x cheese sandwich with side salad and pulled out the cheese leaving the bread on one plate and my cheese salad on the other. They looked confused when they said I could have had jacket...

    CGM Help

AFAIK, there’s the FreeStyle LibreLink app which you can find on their website, if you don’t have the freestyle libre reader you need this to activate the sensor. And I believe there is one third party app you can run on iOS but there’s complications with it as it’s not freely available, you...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.6 this morning, not too bad considering dinner was battered fish and chips. I skipped lunch yesterday as we were out for a few hours around the village and I was woefully unprepared. A hot day, no water, snacks, or sunscreen. I started to feel bad and shaky so headed back to the centre...

    But you NEED sugar

Im on holiday right now (for people with disabilities), and every dinner time I feel like I’m bashing my head against a brick wall. “Do you want banoffee pie/treacle tart/sticky toffee pudding for desert” (one main option akin to these each night) “Can’t I’m diabetic” “We got fresh fruit salad”...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

An 8.2 this morning, after a high day yesterday, I’ve learned my lesson, panini for lunch is a big no-no, even on holiday. Felt really unwell as my sugars hit 15 in the evening, not so long ago that was a normal reading for me.

    Insulin protocol documents

Thank you @Diakat for taking the time to reply. I took the time to consult with Dr Google today and I found hospital insulin protocol, insulin protocol for ICU, protocol for pumping insulin. Protocol for prescribing insulin, and I’m sure a ton of insulin protocol for scientific...

    Insulin protocol documents

Does anyone have a written statement from their doctor of insulin protocol? I’m on holiday with a different care team doing my medication and it seems I’m lacking this legal document for them to administer my insulin, apparently my MARs from home stating my am and pm units isn’t good enough...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.2 at 5:50 this morning, god knows why I’m up this early on holiday. Lounging in the indoor balcony area, until things get started at 8.

    “Lazy” LCHF diet?

Quick update, and again massive thanks to everyone who came up with suggestions! I have cut out bread, potatoes and and all them big no-no’s, I have adjusted meals given to me and I’m having protein yogurt for breakfast, and doing salad for tea. Even though I’m on holiday this week and have...

    Newbie - foot problem

Maybe you could get an appointment with the nurse at your surgery, they generally deal with wounds, she will be able to see your test results and treat your foot appropriately.

    Freestyle Libre

Heat doesn’t affect BLOOD glucose, but the Libre doesn’t monitor the blood it reads from a layer of fluid just under the skin that is affected by heat and possibly hydration levels have some impact too.

    Freestyle Libre

Also some people are having higher inaccuracies in the warmer weather, if body temperature is up the Libre can read a bit higher than the truth.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.3 this morning. Really gotta figure out how to get on top of DP. I’m up to 7.7 before breakfast. Going out on a shopping trip today. And it’s gonna be nice enough weather, no rain.

    Do I tell

I guess it also depends on how good your relationship is with your diabetic nurse and also your personality (maybe the wrong word). I wouldn’t be comfortable or confident enough to tell someone that they were being personally attacked by others in that way. But telling her would allow her to...

    Do I tell

If it were me I’d feedback to her that the course wasn’t as useful as you’d hoped. They were telling people bread and porridge were fine and putting down anyone who suggested or wanted to discuss anything other than ‘their facts’. You don’t have to tell her they were personally attacking her.
