Teenage son won't do his insulin

@Davidcharles just an idea if you brought a freestyle libre sensor from a pharmacy, would 14 days of playing with a cool gadget connected to his phone, wake him up a bit. He can scan as much as he wants, it needs 1 scan every 8 hours so you don’t loose data, and you can use the linkup app to see...

Teenage son won't do his insulin

I understand this is worrying and frustrating for you but maybe if you look for a different angle, although he’s not managing it as well as he should, he is still taking some insulin on his terms. If he’s eating icing sugar and Nutella with a spoon being type 1 without insulin he’d be...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Yeah, it starts going up then but I’d woken up probably about that time, laid in bed until nurse came with my meds at 7, so I’m quite happy it’s the morning glucose dump, may adjust my insulin to accommodate this in future but right now I’m working on diet changes. Some nights can be 9 going to...

    Changing Freestyle Libre Sensor Question

That’s a useful question I’m in much the same boat. About half way into my first sensor. I was planing on putting my new sensor on my other arm the day before to allow it to settle, but I’m not sure you can scan two sensors at once. I just use the phone app for starting my sensor and when I...

No Insulin Due to Lost Luggage

Do you have a copy of your prescription, or access to your GP medical records online? I can’t imagine any pharmacy or dr giving insulin without any proof of it being prescribed previously. I don’t know the Spanish system, you may have to see a Dr first for a prescription. Having a bit of a...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

A 7.8 this morning and a pretty nice smooth line all night according to Libre.

    Medical alert systems

Kerri, NOK is next of kin. I’m not sure electronic versions will be a whole load of help. I have a lot of information on my phone under medical ID, I get picked up by the paramedics quite frequently for other conditions, and when I come round I show them my phone, my communication cards, and...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@ianpspurs i guess the raw data is only as good as the person interpreting it, insulin adjustments can be made with the data, if I eat ABC it does DEF, I’ve seen this pattern a few times after eating ABC so I’m going to adjust insulin. Or at 3am my levels always rise at night maybe adjustment of...

    Medical alert systems

@Kerri5981 if you have multiple diagnosis and medications that can change often it maybe better for you to have a couple of NOK contact numbers rather than trying to tell everything on one small piece of jewellery.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Yes, between scans it saves data every 15 minutes for up to 8 hours, and you can see that with a wiggly line over night/between scans, so there MUST be numbers for that time but I cant fathom out how to find them. I have to look at the wiggle and read the graph to estimate sugar levels and time...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@DJC3 iPhone 7 or newer is required, I’m still playing with my first sensor, so getting used to it. I’ve yet to decide if it will be a long term thing (self funding), or just 14 days snapshot measurements of my diabetes.as for untangling the webs of confusion, I kinda know what foods are bad...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I don’t have a pc, I just buy the sensors. If you have a reasonably modern phone with Near Field Communication (NFC) you don’t need a pc or the abbot libre reader. I use my phone with the LibreLink app which does my scanning the phone is able to active the sensor. I did look at the LibreView...

    T1 little stars..

That looks so awesome, I hope she had a great time. How did they libre work during and after? I know their claims it’s waterproof to 1m for a maximum of 30 mins. I’m still struggling to get my head round it’s safe in the shower and I wear a waterproof dressing over it ‘just in case’. Your...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

8.2 this morning. Which is brilliant by my old goals of below 10, but I think I might need to move the goalposts soon. My plan for today is get up to the shop while it’s still early and coolish, then come home and die in the heat. My talk with the diabetic nurse was successful, I think I’ve...

Type 2 Could Libre be way off/broken?

@Fenn do you have a pharmacy nearby (walkable) to your work, I wonder if you could ask if they could do you a one off finger prick test if you explain the situation that you don’t want to risk driving home unless your confirmed as ok by a finger prick test.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@dunelm i think I need to get settled first, todays To-Do list involves speaking to my diabetic nurse, I’ve kinda been half committed to this LCHF plan over the weekend, but I can definitely see the difference. But didn’t want to go 100% without talking to the nurse.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I have to admit I only found this part of the forum because of the post highlighting it doesn’t show in the ‘recent posts’. I like the fact it’s full on chat. It’s amazing the LC because any readings below 10 were an achievement, now I can be in the green for hours on end. (I know readings of...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all. I woke to a 7.9 this morning which is bloody good for me. I was a little scared going to bed last night I hit 6.6 (this low carb malarkey seems to be having an affect) Part of me wanted to have a slice of toast, but I decided on getting a care giver to wake me up at 2am to see if I...

    Lancet technique

Sometimes it can be if your hands are hot or cold, blood out of a stone is me with cold hands. I use a different lancet, but it has settings 1-8 for how much it stabs. I find I have some fingers that 2 does the job but doesn’t hurt, some fingers I have to use 3 to get the blood, and 5 for my...

    Holiday question

You can buy very small sharps bins from amazon and the like, but like @helensaramay said you don’t need an official container. A hard plastic/metal wide neck drink bottle would be a safe container until you get home to transfer to you normal sharps bin.
