What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

This is what I’m trying at the moment. For me cutting carbs with LCHF bought my sugars down nicely, but I still needed over 50 units of insulin a day to keep my sugars within limits. I did further research and found that 8-12 weeks on this 800 calories shake replacement diet was meant to kick...

    Diabetes recipe

It depends what type she is, and what she normally eats. If she’s type 1 she may eat exactly the same as you, she just want to know carb content for calculating her medication needs from each meal. (Keeping packaging handy for her to look at may help with this) If she’s type 2 it depends on...

I don’t think a belt will help much now! Think you need braces!

Type 2 Progressed onto Insulin - is it reversible?

As a T2 I have come off insulin. I was injecting over 50 units of Humilin I a day. I’ve adjusted my diet, and come off insulin albeit only a couple of months now, how sustainable it will be for me I don’t know. It seems you know what you’ve got to do, it’s just knuckling down and doing it. I...

Type 2 First test of LCHF for a while

Diabetes is misunderstood, if you had a serious allergy there’s no way people would go “ohh come on one naughty meal won’t hurt you” but we so frequently hear that about diabetes, because serious repercussions aren’t instant. But we also need to be relaxed about it, if your sugar levels are...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

4.8 this morning, but feeling better today. Yesterday evening I got a phone call from my paternal grandparents, they are down my way and would I like to meat for lunch? Of course I said yes and we quickly arranged a pub local to me for the meet-up. So at 9pm last night I hurriedly made a quick...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.8 this morning. I had a bad day yesterday and went to bed with a migraine and very annoyed with myself. I started yesterday with about 6 inches of bracelet and finished with nothing. I snapped the thread so many times and had to restart. I then tried another bracelet and realised that I’d...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Woke to a 5.8 this morning. My back is hurting this morning and I’ve not even got out of bed yet. Once I sit at my beading desk the screams of protest from my back will be heard the world over. Yesterday was a good day finished the second number cube, I can’t start the next bit of the train as...

My neighbor a little girl in a pickle

You can only help as much as the mother agrees, talk to the mum, ask if she wants your help. Let her know you will be around if she has questions or wants advice. You can offer to attend appointments with them, if it suits you, to help with reading/writing and understanding the doctor. It’s...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Ok, honesty time for me now. I almost didn’t want to post today. I woke to a 7.6, last night I was naughty and had a large pizza to myself about 9pm. Although I’m high this morning, I was 8.3 last night and went to near 10 a couple of times over night, (the libre shows all) I expected to go much...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@Debandez thats great. I will have to watch it just to see your segment. My Libre gave me a 5.0 this morning, and I turned over and went back to sleep after medication. Not a busy day for me today after yesterday. I done some more on my train. Finished one date cube now for the other.

    Which online service to use

Patient access is good for me. But I set up a friend on it (different surgery) and they didn’t have access to half the stuff I do. So it is dependent on what your doctors surgery put on there. I find it easy to book appointments, check test results and order medication. They have recently...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all. I woke to a 5.2 this morning. Yesterday the internet allowed me to watch the F1, except for the first 15 minutes when it crashed just as the lights went out. Then in the evening I watched the IndyCar well except for the first 15 minutes when it crashed as they were about to go green...

Type 2 Infection and blood sugar

Likewise @ally1 it’s a predictor of infections for me. I have 1 day of higher sugars without any reason I shake it off, day two I book a drs appointment for 3-4 days time just in case. Then on day 3 if I start showing UTI symptoms, drop my water sample at the drs, and then go to my appointment...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Yes, it’s fiddly, and confusing sometimes. It really does take a long time too, the locomotive is approximately 2x2x1 inches, and each little wheel takes about 1 hour. Obviously a flat less technical section would grow a lot quicker.

Type 2 Infection and blood sugar

Probably push it up, illness and stress generally can cause higher sugar levels, and some antibiotics can push them up a bit more. Also depending on what infection you have they sometimes use steroids those are also known to increase blood sugar levels. Plus, hospital food is very carby, not...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

It’s sewing/weaving together the tiny beads using a stitch called peyote. You pick up a bead then go through the next bead in the previous row and repeat.
